Barre??

FutureMrsHadi, on February 3, 2020 at 4:00 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 14
Hi all! I’m exactly 6 months away from my wedding date WOOHOO!!! I was thinking about trying barre classes! I’m not really looking to lose any weight, but I do want to tone some muscles and get some more definition. Is there any one who’s tried it that would or would not recommend barre? I’d love to hear your experiences and advice! Thanks!

I am a huge Barre fan. Been doing it for a year. It can suck because you will feel the crazy shake and burn in your muscles but I love it. The one thing I will say though is Barre can get very expensive Smiley sad

Yes I hear that! I did a lot of yoga classes before haha very expensive as well. With Barre did you get pretty toned or see a change in muscle definition?

I love barre! My coworker recently opened her own studio and I have truly enjoyed going to classes. I have a lot of dance background, but you certainly don't need dance experience. I DEFINITELY see a difference in the toning of my body, especially my arms/shoulders, after doing it for about 4 months.

You do see a difference in the shape of your body after some time.

I love Barre but be cautious. My chest, glutes and waist grew due to muscle mass. While this is all great for normal goals, I found myself in a position where I could not fit into my gown. I think you need to know your body before going into this. If you are anything like me and put on muscle fast and always get wider, then i would avoid. If you are someone who actually slims as they tone, then go for it!

I love barre! I use it to supplement my running. I use ClassPass to get access to a variety of studios at a relatively low cost.

I did barre for the better part of a year, and while I did feel stronger, I got BORED. The classes were all very repetitive and very predictable. I switched to a pilates studio and I am SO.MUCH.HAPPIER. Both are expensive but I am so much more excited to go to class now because in pilates there is so much equipment and no two classes are the same-it keeps your brain more excited to go and your muscles never plateau.

Yes, I love barre!!! I started doing it 2 years ago. It's the only workout I've ever done that I've been committed to! It definitely makes you stronger, and you can see the results. It's helped tone my little arms a lot.

I did my first barre class last week! My gym is awesome and offers a variety of classes like pilates, yoga, and boxing. But I also couldn't walk right for a couples days haha! Haven't been that sore in a long time!

Barre is great, but personally it's way too expensive for me. It can help for muscle definition, however the best way to define your muscles and get "bigger" is by lifting weights. While it's not as sexy as barre, Pilates, or yoga, it's so much cheaper and more effective at either targeting specific muscles or doing compound exercises that train a bunch of different muscle groups. Here are some basic workouts that are great for building muscle: https://www.openfit.com/weightlifting-gain-muscle-and-strength

Since you have never tried Barre though, I recommend giving it a try, and most Barre gyms will allow you to give it a try for free before investing in a membership. And no matter what you choose to do, make sure you eat enough protein, which allows the muscles to grow/recover, and stay away from simple sugars, which will make you look more defined.

I just tried Barre last week and I LOVE it! 1st class was free and absolutely no pressure to purchase classes. I did buy 4 more. It’s worth every dollar. I have 8 months to tone up lol.
