Barns...

I was the same way... I didn’t want a rustic vibe. I specifically told my florists that I didn’t want a rustic vibe and didn’t want it anywhere near my wedding.


I’ve attended some beautiful rustic weddings, but it’s just not something that would have been true to our personalities and vibe.

I don’t understand this post, sorry. You don’t like barns so you didn’t book a barn. Other people like barns, so they choose barn venues. This forum is supposed to be encouraging and supportive. To each their own. Everyone has their own individual taste and style. My venue isn’t a barn, but I personally like barn venues. They don’t have to equate to mason jars and rustic vibes, necessarily. Anybody reading this who is having a barn wedding...don’t be discouraged! It’s going to be absolutely beautiful, and exactly what YOU always imagined. 😊💕

Yeah I’m not a fan either. To each their own, but it’s not for me. I feel like it’s a trend that’s going to stop at some point too. I’m just imagining telling my grandkids that we got married in a barn and I can’t 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

I love barns BUT everyone in Indiana gets married in a barn. I refused to do it because not only do I hate following the norm, but it doesn't fit our style. We are more outdoorsy/get married on a mountain type peolle. Not to mention they are expensive and in order to fill it you need a million guests. Haha.

Some are really nice. But I agree with you, I also did not want a barn reception. No matter how pretty. Everyone has their own tastes. Most of the venues in my county are barns. We decided to get married 2 hours away in another city that we love to get the atmosphere we wanted.

I guess because I’ve never been to a barn wedding it seems so charming! All the weddings I went to in the 90’s were in a church/hotel ballroom so I definitely didn’t want a hotel ballroom reception. Boring. But as another poster said, to each her own.

I think it's definitely a "to each their own" thing. I know people who have had beautiful barn weddings, but it just isn't our taste. I'm like you - I don't want a rustic vibe anywhere near the wedding and wanted a place where we could stay right there overnight afterwards, so a barn just wouldn't work.

Glad other feel the same. I’m getting a lot of pressure for barn wedding, just because it’s definitely the go to thing near me. It’s just not me. Just hoping there were others that shared my likes 💜 thanks ladies

Same, in Indiana it seems like most venues are barns. I chose an old brick warehouse for like a speakeasy vibe.
