barefoot?

usmclover, on July 18, 2009 at 8:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Would it be completely disrespectful to walk down the aisle barefoot if my wedding is in a church? My fiance is a United States Marine and will be in his dress blues. I despise shoes of any kind...but will me being stubborn make the wedding look too tacky? Please help, this is causing many arguments in my family...

How about slippers? I think even davids brials sells 'Wedding slippers". I plan on wearing slippers since I have not worn heels in ages and really don't feel like breaking my neck. I have also looked on Ebay and they have some every once in a while. My thought is at least they look fnacy but I can walk and dance in comfort. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with the PP...slippers come in many different colors and styles and they are sooooo comfy! That would be a better choice.

I wanted to go barefoot too. I even considered flip-flops but hate the noise. Once we chose an outdoor venue for the reception I decided to go with a nice pair of sandals.

Your wedding sounds like its a bit formal... I would say that you do need shoes of some kind in a church. If you are really anti-shoes, maybe consider getting married on the beach! no shoes required there!

I like you hate shoes, dress shoes more then anything and plan on being barefoot for about 90% of my wedding, but I chose an outdoor ceremony and barn reception and everyone knowing me will expect it. Being that yours is so formal and he is in the full get-up, I say find the most comfortable pair you can find and suck it up for the ceremony and kick them off for the reception. Balet flats might not be bad.

I think it would probably be disrespectful to go barefoot in the church...but why don't you talk to the priest/minister about it?

I think you should wear shoes dont know if its disrespectful but it will look very tacky if he is dressed in full and you didnt even wear shoes. after your I dos kick them off and trade them for a pair of flats. also imagine how it will be when you get to bed and your feet are dirty from walking around all day not good for wedding nite romance

We are getting married in my parents yard, so I will be barefoot! In the church, I would reccomend shoes of some sort! White sneakers? or flip flops, or ballet slippers..then after all is said and done, barefoot for the reception? I will most likely have flip flops for the reception though..I really don't want to be walking on a dirty booze spilled floor!

Check these out. I too hate dress shoes, and wanted to wear flip flops, so when I went to Adidas website, I found these. They are made of very soft material and are so comfortable! They are very soft and don't rub anywhere. I have a bunion on my left foot and have a screw in my right foot from surgery, and these don't bother me one bit. Plus I can wear them all day long, and as long as they stay in good condition I can wear them after the wedding without a problem. Other slippers and flats always stopped right on my bunion or where my surgery was and were so uncomfortable. These come just past the joint of the big toe so you don't risk rubbing.

If your dress is long enough so no one will see, go for it, but if your feet show, you might want shoes
