Hello ladies,

I’m doing most of the planning for the wedding since my fiancé is at combat basic training to become a U. S. Soldier. I’ve been handling everything pretty well, but im having so much trouble deciding for bar service. We want our guests to have a good but we don’t want to spend so much for them to get drunk. What’s the best option?

Would unlimited beer and wine be cheaper than a full open bar?

Open beer and wine, throw in a signature drink or two if you can fit it in your budget.

As of now, they offer me a $2400 open bar service for 4 hours and 129 guests. But we still want to keep it a little lower.
has anyone gotten a limited bar and if yes, how much did it cost?

I actually asked and they told me that removing certain drinks doesn't necessarily bring the price down.

Our venue offered a pre-paid bar option which basically meant we would put down X amount of money for the bar and once the guests had gone through that amount then it would be either additional to us OR it would become a cash bar where guests had to pay. This would work very well for limiting consumption I would imagine as once the drinks are no longer free people tend to stop drinking. We went with a full open bar though as this pre-paid option wouldn't last our crowd more than cocktail hour.
