Bar package options

Kat, on November 25, 2019 at 1:36 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5

Hi everyone! My bar packages are done through the venue, but for open bar there's a premium (mid level-brand) or platinum (top shelf) package. If there's one specific top shelf liquor I want, but don't want to pay the extra for the premium bar, is it possible my venue will work with me? Has anyone dealt with something like this?

(The only reason we currently opted for platinum is so my dad can get Crown Royal whiskey, since he is paying for a large portion of the wedding and that is all he drinks lol)

Thanks in advance Smiley smile

Depends on your venue but most will not allow a substitution like that.

See if you can negotiate a discount (we are getting platinum package for a premium price)

I would just ask. Or, see if you can do the premium package but you can just buy a glass of the crown royal whiskey for your dad separately?

I imagine every venue is different. There might be an option for people to purchase top shelf liquor, then you cover the other liquor.

We did this with our bar service but not with liquor. I wanted prosecco instead of moscato and we just paid an upcharge. Doesn't hurt to ask!

We were able to upgrade just one particular liquor for a few extra dollars per person.
