Bar Menu or no?

Lauren, on June 4, 2019 at 6:53 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 14
I figured we would just put a single menu at the bar in a frame or something.
Hubs says that isnt necessary and the guests can just ask "whatcha got?" Lol.

We are personally greeting guests as the enter the reception, and plan to tell them the bar is open and probably say we've got beer and wine. (No liqour)

So, is a menu necessary, or can we skip it?

I don't think it's a necessity, but I think it would be helpful in moving the line faster. That way people know what they want by the time they reach the bartender.

I'd vote yes menu for the reason Caytlyn wrote. It certainly isn't necessary though.

I would appreciate a sign if I was at your wedding, especially knowing it is hosted! There are so many cash bars that I always fear I’m going to order a wine and then have someone say, “That’ll be $7.”, so I’d appreciate knowing the hosted options.

I totally get that. We already plan to stand (or sit) by the front door and greet guests as they enter. Let them know where they can find their seats, where to put gifts and sign the "guest book" and also let them know the bar is open and free. Smiley smile

We will have bar menus. It'll move things along so the bartender doesnt have to list off everything. That way the guest knows what is available and can just know what they want.

2 good ideas that I didn't think of for the "pro" section of a bar menu! Moves things along faster and bartender wont have to list the alcohol 100+ times.

I think I'm gunna tell my Love that we are having one, even if he doesn't think we need it. Smiley tongue

We just had a small sign that said "Open Bar," but I always think it is nice to have a sign saying what you're serving if the bar is modified. It'll keep the line moving quickly for the bar.

I think it's better to have the menu, especially if you have signature drinks like a bride drink and a groom drink it would be cute just to list it

We are doing a list, because higher priced alcohols are available for a $ to guests. So we will have one that says "On us!" or something with the list of alcohols that we are covering, then a smaller one next to it with prices on it. I don't think it's necessary but I think it's nice.

I think for that circumstance it would be an easy thing to accomplish. Menus aren't necessary for an open bar. But it's nice to know the names of beers for a limited bar. Not necessarily the wines cuz usually it's just like one red, one white, one pink. But even listing those I can easily pick, "oh yeah I want the blush wine". And if you have a signature drink put that on there. I think one sign to sit on the bar is plenty!

We are having top shelf but we still have to pick our liquor and we only get so many different beers and wines and 1 signature drink so a I plan to have one.

It's not necessary but if you have the time/budget to make one I would.

I've seen as simple as printing it out and putting it into a photo frame. As other's have said, it keeps the line moving.
