Bar menu layout

Jacque, on May 27, 2019 at 5:34 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 7
So we’re having a small backyard wedding and reception at my future mother-in-law’s home. Im trying to create a bar menu sign, but I’m not sure how to lay it out design wise since our menu isn’t super extensive. Everything example template I’m seeing online has several beer, wine and spirit options...

Here’s what we’re offering:

Stella Artois
Miller Lite
Cabernet
Chardonnay
Champagne
Pre-made Vodka lemonade (in one of those jug dispenser things)
Vodka (for cocktails)

Other drinks/mixers: Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Seltzer, Cranberry juice

We’ll be having Water dispensers with cut up fruit available as well, so no need to list water on the menu I think.

Any ideas on how to group/lay these out? (And no, I can’t add any other spirits to the list since my in-laws are handling this expense. I wish I could do rum also but not possible unfortunately...)

thanks!

Yeah girl I'm in the distribution biz and help bars, restaurants, hotels, catering folks come up with menus all the time. I've attached a format I love to use for weddings. Using margins to differentiate categories.

I would list signature cocktail first
"Happily Ever After" Summer Lovin Punch
Then list a spruced up description (light and refreshing classic, with a touch of Vodka, topped with fresh lemonade)

    Shift down to wine
    List as :
    Vino:
    Red & White Wine
    Celebratory Bubbles

    Shift down to beer
    List as :
    Brews:
    Stella Artois
    Miller Lite

    Shift down to spirits:
    List as something cute like
    Dealers Choice:
    Or
    Get Spirited Away:
    Or
    Mix It Up:
Vodka offering with your choice of mixer

Unless your crowd is uber conservative I might not even list non alc selection.

    But I would say :
    Crafted water refreshment available
Drink responsibly, laugh generously, tip joyfully. (Some people dont like to include a space for the tip... but I find it goes a long way with your bar staff and their willingness to help be the life of the party.. also alleviates the need for you to over tip) just my thoughts. Hope this helps

    Hey Jacque!

It sounds like you will have something to suit all of your guests!

I really don’t think I can top the suggestions that Misty gave! That is super helpful!!

Do you know what was you will present the drinks menu? Will you have a large one at the bar or have smaller ones on each table?

Yes, I think her suggestions are spot on!!

The plan is to have one or two framed menus at the bar (probably either 8x10 or 8.5x11). We only have 80 guests including the wedding party, so I think that’ll work out fine... unless you have any other suggestions?

That sounds great Jacquey! I think two would be perfect as you can have one at either end of the bar so that your guests don't have to crane their necks to see it.

Once your guests have gone up to the bar once or twice they will know what they want and won't have to read the menu again!Smiley laugh
