Bar Dilemma

Bryan, on February 23, 2021 at 10:01 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15
We are having less than 30 adults at our wedding. Everyone attending will be either close friends or family. We want to provide alcohol just not at premium bar prices ($45 pp). We were thinking of either doing beer and wine (25 pp) plus a signature drink ($6 pp). Or a Signature Drink and Open Bar monetary cap of $400 . Our venue includes 1 champagne toast in the food package.

Does anyone think this is acceptable?

I would do the beer and wine for $25pp. To save the money I’d just skip the signature drink! Almost everyone likes either beer or wine, and $25pp is a good deal

No caps. Beer & wine is fine! Up to you if you really want a signature drink.

I would do the beer & wine plus signature drink option over the monetary cap.

Thank you the beer and wine is about $200 more than the monetary cap with signature drink. Haha I'm just worried about one person. Most ppl aren't big drinkers. But I think we will go with the beer and wine. Thank you!

Make sure you have plenty of nonalcoholic options for those who don't drink beer/wine.

Definitely the beer & wine option! Bar caps are super problematic because what would happen if you reach the cap? Beer & wine only is the much better option in this case!

Unless this person is yourself or your FH, don't change your plans because of them! Is it possible to do the beer & wine option and if people want something else, they can just pay for it themselves? If this person so desperately needs a certain mixed drink, I'm sure they'd be fine paying for one (or two).

Don't change your plans for one person but don't make any guest open their wallet either

The beer and wine options sounds like your best. It’s a good price and you don’t have to worry about your bar shutting down mid-reception.

Update: Our venue allows a Bourbon Bar that's open the entire event. We are going to add that to three signature drinks (one wine based and one alcohol based). The venue serves these the entire night. Soft Drinks etc are included in our food package. Our family said they are fine with this and we will send out a survey with the signature drink choices. This comes out to be way cheaper than Premium Open Bar and a few dollars cheaper than Beer and Wine.

    Thank You for your input!
