Okay, this is a long post. We were married a few weekends ago and I was holding out for more professional photos, but I can’t wait any longer! Our wedding was beautiful! The skies were a gorgeous blue and although we were in the valley of the mountains, it wasn’t too cold for our outdoor ceremony. The wedding was more than I could have imagined! We did run into a few hiccups, but they weren’t anything we couldn’t brush off. Our first hiccup had to do with catering. I was sending follow up emails with vendors to make sure we were all on the same page and good to go. Sent multiple emails to our catering manager with no response. So, we arrived in person only to find out that she quit! So, we spent a few hours the following evening (this was 3 days before our wedding) with one of the other managers to make sure revisions were made and everything was good to go. Thank goodness we did that!
We had a weekend package with our venue and planned to reach the venue at 12 noon on Friday to begin setup. We almost forgot our marriage license, had to make a girdle run for my mom, picked up the cake, had to stop at a Walmart closer to the venue because we forgot some essentials (shampoo/conditioner for me and hair glue for him), almost made it to the venue when husband’s mom called frantic in tears because she was lost on some back road by herself. We had to find her—which we did, thankfully. So, we showed up late. It’s okay, though. Other people got stuck in traffic and our rehearsal dinner lady showed up an hour late, but we didn’t get to start our rehearsal on time so that worked out perfectly. We had help from friends and family after dinner placing the final touches on the tables and decorations. We also realized late that night that my mom forgot to pack up two bags of wedding items—which included our guest book hearts. Whoops! My parents’ home is a two hour drive from the venue and I didn’t want my dad to have to drive four hours overnight or the next morning. Lucky for us, our DOC is from the area where we got married and told us there’s a Hobby Lobby 20 minutes from one of the hotels, so the Best Man and his wife picked more up for us the next morning. The DJ didn’t have the father daughter song, so he had to pull it from Spotify and hook to the speakers. Thankful we had a workaround. We couldn’t find the garter, so we had to scratch the garter and bouquet tosses—no big deal. We had picky kids so my parents brought chicken nuggets and pizza. One pizza was consumed by kids during rehearsal dinner. The other pizza was burned in the oven during the reception and two of the kids would not touch the nuggets. So, my parents ordered a pizza for them. Whew! We had family and friends help pull everything together the day of and everything about the day was gorgeous! Know that you will run into hiccups and things will not always go 100% according to plan, but roll with it, find workarounds, and don’t lose sight of what’s most important—-you and your spouse. If you’re still waiting for your day, be assured that your day will be beautiful!! ❤️
Will post more pictures in comments later!!
