Baltimore Wedding Venue

sweetgrldanielle, on November 17, 2015 at 11:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

My fiance and I have been searching for a wedding venue in Baltimore, but we do not want to spend a ton of money. We need a place that can accommodate 250-300. I went to the Palladium today, but I was not too impressed. It was very run down, and they wanted to charge $11,000 to rent the venue (no food included). Please help!!

Hi, Danielle! Have you tried looking into Martin's West? They're all inclusive and their prices aren't too bad, depending on the package.

I feel that will take some effort with that many on your guest list but I know some brides have used venues near the Baltimore Harbor like the aquarium and science museum (ask Spazzy) and it looked really pretty! Not sure of the cost though. We are getting married at Great Falls, MD if you don't mind being outside in October that could work for you. It's free to book the Navy Observation deck!

I'm actually going there next week. The cost to rent the Palladium is really high considering we'd have to find catering and provide all drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic). There is also an additional $1,000 fee if we decided to have alcohol at the Palladium. I just felt that the price was too steep considering we'd have to pay for all other services. Thanks for the recommendation!

That's exactly what I was thinking. It's not even in the best neighborhood, and it is really run down. My fiancé really wanted to check them out because we know people that have had their weddings there. After seeing it, I am convinced that I can find something better. Our budget is about $15k-$20k. I really appreciate your help!

The visionary arts museum is amazing and holds a ton of people in their banquet room, also museum of industry holds a good amount, both have a Beautiful harbor view.

Have you looked through the WW vendor search?

Scroll down and use the filters on the left hand side - you can filter by capacity which should be helpful!

I'm not sure of the cost, but the Visionary Arts Museum downtown could probably hold 250-300 and it is absolutely gorgeous! The Grand is gorgeous as well (Charles Street). I have worked weddings at both venues (as a DOC) and the staff at each one were wonderful work with. Have you thought about non-traditional venues, such as a restaurant? With that many people you might have to rent the restaurant out, but it might be something to look into.

Oh, I was going to suggest coradetti glassblowing studio, but it's too small for your wedding. Smiley sad

I second the recommendation for 1840's ballroom. Smiley smile It's beautiful but still neutral. You can put any theme into it.

@sweetgrldanielle ~ Keep in mind that your guest list number is going to drive up the price of pretty much everything (catering, rentals, etc), so the venue is really only the tip of the iceberg.

That being said, the gals here always have the BEST suggestions, so you're in great hands to get the best tips! Welcome to the WeddingWire Community! Smiley smile

Thanks! That was my same mindset. I'd rather have a venue that is full service because doing it the other way would be ridiculously expensive.
