Baltimore brides - new gathering limit?

Leonormorrow, on August 6, 2020 at 4:58 PM Posted in Maryland Planning 0 7

Help! We have mostly planned our micro wedding for 35 people including guests and vendors staying the whole event.

But Baltimore City just passed an executive order limiting gatherings (indoor and outdoor) to 25 people.

What should I do!? Should I try cutting our list and disinviting people, many of which have already made travel arrangements, or should we try to postpone to a different date later on?

Both of these seem like terrible options (we are already just inviting immediate family, bridal party, very close friends) but I doubt this order will be reversed by September.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry leonormorrow! That's so difficult to deal with!!

Is there any way to get from 35 to 25 with your guest list? Or do you know if any of your guests are on the fence about attending? Downsizing by another 10 people is brutal, but I also feel like people are being incredibly understanding right now. Smiley heart

My husband is a groomsman in an August wedding that has now been postponed, but before they changed plans I had already volunteered to stay home and have him go to the wedding solo if the bride & groom had to start down-sizing the guest list. I love those friends but I don't need to take a family member or close friend's guest list spot!

You can also try to postpone, but these restrictions seem to change so quickly I wouldn't know how to make sure this same situation doesn't happen to you again! Smiley heart

We are getting married in MD too and at first there were different restrictions for weddings. I haven't seen anything specific to Baltimore City. Has your venue said anything about the 25 ppl limit?

Here is the latest story I read:

Yes we are trying to see if they can interpret it as 25 people per room and not entire space, and then just space people out more. I’m mostly sad because we have to do a seated happy hour which will mean less chance to explore the venue. But maybe things will change again!!! I’m hoping.

Are you able to continue with your plans now that restrictions aren't as bad?

We had to cut a few people from out list to get to 25 guests (not counting vendors). But now our venue is allowing 30 guests which is 25% capacity. So it is kind of annoying since we could have not had to uninvite people, but ultimately we only needed to cut a few acquaintances.
