Ballgown hairstyle

Heaven, on February 1, 2017 at 11:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

I know this is a personal preference thing, but what do y'all think of having a down/half-down hairstyle for a ballgown dress? I keep seeing ballgown brides, but they're all rocking the updo. If any of you who wore your hair down and have pictures to share, I would be extremely appreciative Smiley smile

I think hairstyle depends more on the top half of the dress than the bottom. Do you have a picture of your dress?

Actually I have a picture of just the top half (I didn't think to snap a picture of me actually in it and it's a lot of dress lol)

ETA: I also didn't think about the top half affecting the hair more than the dress as a whole, so thank you for pointing that out!!

I think down and curled would go with that. Maybe just take two bits one from either side and pin them in back together.

My sister actually did a low curled ponytail with her ballgown. All of her detail was in her skirt. With your bodice, I would probably do a loose, low updo with that.

I think half up/half down would look nice. I would actually recommend a style kind of like mine that will keep your hair behind your shoulders. That way you can show off the neckline of the dress.

Thank y'all very much Smiley smile I'm trying to get away with half down but a loose updo might be a good compromise!

I have a sweetheart neckline as well and am planning to do it sidesweot with curls. Basically pinned back on one side with a few loose pieces of hair and all tucked to the other shoulder and curled.

I have a strapless ballgown as well, and I am considering this hairstyle. I dont like the way my face looks with all my hair pulled back, but at the same time, I dont want a bunch of hair in my face all night. This side swept braid look might do the trick, but my stylist is going to work with me on it a bit, try a few options.

I had a ball gown and half up half down is a great idea.

I personally like when brides wear their hair up when they wear ball gowns. It is the most classic, timeless look.

My gown was between an A-line and a ballgown the first time I got married, and I wore my hair in an up-do.

My dear friend who is a professional hair and make-up artist also thought this was the best idea to ensure that my pics turned out well so that I would not have my hair hiding my face from any angle, etc.

I have a ballgown as well and am trying to decide the same thing. Leaning towards half up/half down.

Mine wasn't a ball gown per say, but definitely a fuller A-line. I did wear mine up though! I think it made for a classic look!

I don't think ballgown matters, it's the top of the dress. If you're doing strapless, I personally think down or partially down is nicer.

So first of all, your dress is STUNNING from what I can see.

Second, typically with a strapless you can kind of go either way with your hair. I can definitely see a half up/half down style with this or a full updo. I think a loose, low updo would look best.

    Your dress is GORGEOUS!

I have a big ballgown too and want mine sort of down, but to the side, kind of like this
