Ballgown Alterations Pricing

Allyson, on December 6, 2019 at 8:24 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
Hello! Yesterday I had my first alterations appointment and I was wondering if others were quoted the same price as me. I really clicked with the seamstress and she has great experience so even if it is a little pricey I’ll be okay, but I wanted to check with you guys!

Alterations for top of sweetheart neckline to be closer to my chest: $30Bustle: $65Hemming: $50 a layer, 7 layers
Total: $445
Also I live in Orlando so a lot of services typically cost more! Thanks for your input Smiley smile

This is such a great price I'm jealous lol! I live in Dallas and have been quoted double to triple that!

Yup! Sounds about right. The bridal shop I worked at for alterations quoted $650-$850 for basic alterations (hem, bustle, punch at the waist).

I think it's a great price! Where did you go? I don't have a ballgown, but I live in Orlando as well and paid $350 for removing the top embroidered layer of my dress, hemming 2 layers (1 with horsehair braid), tightening the bodice at either side, adding sewn-in cups, and adding a belt. I didn't want a bustle, but I'm sure it would have been around $65 as well.

Holy crap!! I’ve seen other posts saying people were quoted like $300 but I have no clue what kind of dresses! Cause I have heard ballgown alterations are on the higher side

I went to Yan’s Alteration Studio in Kissimmee! She was wonderful! Where did you go? That also seems like a great price for all of the alterations they made for you Smiley smile

That's awesome! When do you get your dress back? Please post a picture! I went to Minh's Master Tailor on Mills Avenue. She was also really nice. She even had shoes to use for figuring out my hem length because I forgot to bring mine with me! I get to see my dress on the 18th and I am so excited!!

I’m in south Florida and my bridal shop caps alterations at $500 so it sounds right!

I only had hemming done on my ballgown that's 6-7 layers, and it cost the same amount you were quoted for the same service Smiley smile

Mine was about the same. I have an A-Line dress, and needed the straps to be adjusted, and then the hem and bustle.
