Ball gown too over the top?

So I just purchased this off the shoulder ball gown for my wedding dress. And I’m having second thoughts! I have 5 months till wedding and did a lot of dress shopping and this one was my favorite. But is a ball gown too over the top? Will I be able to wear it comfortably and dance around?

I’m getting married outside on a patio with a walkway over a stream and worried how I will not get my dress all dirty and in the way. The reception is at a banquet hall at a steakhouse.

    First let me start with, that is a beautiful gown.

    Ultimately it is YOUR gown...if that is what made you feel beautiful and like a bride then rock it!

    I wouldn't worry what anyone else has to think, your FH is going think you look amazing in whatever you choose!

    I think you're fine! Honestly, I thought I would get more of a fit and flare, but i ended up with a huge ballgown as well. Only you can know how heavy it will be, but that dress is gorgeous. I thought mine would be too much, but I'm surprised at how easy I can move in it. Will you be wearing a shirt? What shoes?

    I think that dress is beautiful. It’s not over the top and you fell in love with it! If your worried about the stream I would focus more on your shoes. You don’t want to trip. I’m also getting married after crossing a small stream outside so it’s something I’m thinking about too!

    I think it's really beautiful and simply elegant!


    I'm getting married on a wooden patio in a park and I'm going to be worrying about the same thing, especially with my dress being my late mother's, but try not to worry about it too much!

    I'm getting married in the woods at a national park with a simple reception and I'm wearing a ball gown. Wear whatever dress makes you happiest and feel the most special and beautiful. If that dress is a ball gown, go for it!

    Beautiful Ball gown now dancing wise depending on you but me I like to get down and dirty lol so its a no.. I have a ballroom dress but I also have a mermaid dress for the reception.. But if you do dance in it you will just have to hike it up which is up to you or hym it up to your ankles..

    Get the dress dirty. It's there to be fabulous for one day. Afterwards you can have it clraned and deal with any ramifications, but do you even have plans for it after the day?

    Your dress is pretty and doesn’t look over the top at all. I actually like that it’s a more simplistic and classy style ballgown. It looks like it will still be easy enough to move in because the bottom isn’t excessively puffed out.

    Regardless of where you are getting married the bottom of your dress will get dirty (unless it's short...) but I think that is a gorgeous dress and you will rock the crap outta that! Just wear comfy shoes that you can walk and stand in without feeling like your feel will fall off! Good luck and congrats!

    I think that type of ball gown is fine for an outdoor wedding! It isn't over the top and laced with tons of sparkle or other items. It is a subtle beauty which is what an outdoor venue needs! I actually ended up picking a lacy fitted gown with no sparkle for wedding. If you know personality, the no sparkle was concerning. Haha. It felt right though.

    It's your day. If this dress is it for you. Go with it! I got married at a golf course in a full ballgown with a chapel length train. I had layers upon layers in my dress and I had no problem moving around. Go for it!!!
