Ball gown slips/petticoat

LaNette, on May 24, 2017 at 1:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

My dress is from David's bridal and of course they give you all the gear to use when you try on the dresses. Well I chose a ball gown. I was told to not buy my petticoat/slip from them because apparently I can find one for cheaper else where. I bought one online and I can't even tell I am wearing it. It adds no volume/poof to the dress. So I want a better one. I want one that adds a reasonable amount of poof for an affordable price. Bellow is my dress. Suggestions?

But @LittleDemon, I didn't use a hoop skirt when I tried it on at David's Bridal. I worry a hoop skirt will make it too poofy. I want the perfect poof! I was hoping to get feedback from previous ball gown users and getting a specific suggestion because with online skirts I worry that I will keep buying and trying and returning and not finding the perfect one. So before I spent the money and just broke down and went to David's Bridal and got what I had when I tried it on, I wanted to see if there really is something comparable at cheaper price.

You should look at bridal resale Facebook groups near you. Buying the one you tried on and liked used is your best cost saving option.

This may sound silly - but try a theatre/costume shoppe if you don't want to spend the money on the one at DB.

When I acted, I had to wear petticoats and they weren't expensive but added the poof I needed.

I bought an inexpensive one from Amazon (I think it was $20-25). It was a triple layer skirt - hoops and material. I didn't wear it on the day of the wedding, as it added more poof than I personally wanted, but at least I wasn't out a lot of money.

I bought it from davids bridal but I waited for them to have a sale on line or a promotion (spend $75 get $10 off) sort of thing. They match it in store for you!
