Bad Luck ??

Kayla, on March 16, 2020 at 10:04 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
Hey y’all so with the whole virus thing going around my fiancé & I want to push back the actual ceremony and reception after all this settles. We still want to keep the same date and just do us at a courthouse. Now I wanted to wear my wedding dress regardless but someone said wearing the same wedding dress is bad luck ? I’m not usually one to believe in that but it’s still a thing to think about. Would that be strange to wear my dress twice ? Thanks for any input ❤️

I don't think that would be bad luck. I've heard wearing the same dress twice us bad luck in terms of if you are getting married a 2nd time to a different person in the same dress. Even that I feel is a little silly. You are getting married to the one you love and are needing to make concessions due to an international pandemic. I think it's totally fine to wear the dress for the wedding and then again for the postponed reception.

Im going to wear my dress twice if we have to cancel the reception. We really want to keep our wedding date so if we still get married and have a reception later. I will wear my dress twice.

That's what I plan to do if I have to postpone the celebration/ceremony. It also used to be considered bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding, until the "first look" pre-ceremony concept came around.

I say, do whatever makes you happy.

That one I can see. Frankly with the memories associated with my ex-H, I can't imagine even WANTING to wear that dress for my 2nd wedding.

I'm wearing mine twice! I was thinking about wearing a diff one for our original date with just us, but since FH will be wearing his suit I decided I will wear my dress twice. Smiley smile

I would definitely wear the same dress for both of these events. We aren't in this position yet but may be, and I'm just concerned about the practicalities of my dress. My dress has a long train and I was really hoping that the first time my FH saw me in it he would get the full effect, however I am worried I will need to bustle it if we get married at City Hall.
