Backyard Weddings

Are they fun? Would you be excited to go to one? What do you hope to experience at an evening backyard wedding? Professional DJ necessary at that point? 120 guest count.. plenty of space but a little worried people won't want to stay.

I went to a really nice backyard wedding recently. They rented three tents, tables, chairs, nice portable restrooms, and I'm sure a bunch of other backyard wedding-specific things. I'm sure it was very expensive, but it was a great wedding. We all had a fantastic time. You just need to do your research beforehand to make sure you know what you're getting into.

I went to a backyard wedding a few years ago. It was a small wedding, probably 30-40 people at a beautiful craftman style home in LA. They didn't need tents or anything, but March in LA is usually pretty mild.

This is my FILS property and the pictures are a few months old so some of the greenery has changed and bloomed.

Thank you for such detailed responses, sounds like I have a TON to think about now...

Backyard weddings can be amazing. But as someone who started planning a backyard wedding, they can be a bit more work (and just as expensive as an all inclusive venue). Hire good vendors!

@penny-please rethink the pool. Not many parents are going to enjoy themselves as they are sitting there watching kids swim.

Make sure you have a good walkway. Friend went to a wedding that had tents for the rain but had to walk through the mud to get to them.

I've been to two backyard weddings. They were both fun, but please make sure that you have a professional caterer.

One of the weddings was self catered. The food looked terrible, and someone told me it was cold (I didn't eat). We left early to go get food.

They won't stay without a DJ!
