Backyard wedding. Help! Question on catering and rentals.

arnfilode, on November 9, 2009 at 9:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

I am wondering how much an outdoor wedding(backyard) would cost for an estimated 90 people. What is the cost for a tent, chairs, stemware, flatware etc. and food (cocktail hour and reception)? Food is important. I guess I would label the event casual-elegant. How do I get information/references on caterers? I want to know what kind of reputation they have. Wedding to be held in Suffolk, Long Island. Thank you.

Www.bizbash.com will give you tons of event suppliers, caterers, florist, photographers, etc. It is a great resource.

For the tent, tables & chairs - ask for a quote from an event rental company. Use the "Vendors" button at the top of this page to locate one near you. They will help you figure out exactly what you would need. They can also give you a quote for the dishes. But some catering companies own their own dishes, so check with them as well.

    .

Use the same "Vendors" button to search for caterers - many of them will have reviews you can look at. Projectwedding.com also has vendor reviews you can take a look at.

    .

If you are hoping to get some ideas on pricing tonight - one of the rental companies in my area (Utah) does have their prices on the website. I'm sure costs on Long Island are a little bit more though...

Enter the zip code 84108 and it will show you the prices here.

    .

    Hope that helps!

By the way - 12 60" round tables will seat 96 guests. A 30x40 canopy will cover 12 tables, but nothing else. I would suggest a larger canopy than that to provide room for the buffet, cake table, dancing, etc. The exact size will depend on what you need and the space you have to work with.
