Backless Dress and Busty Bride

MrsR314, on October 6, 2017 at 2:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

Hello Ladies!

Just wondering if you had any issues adding a bra to your backless wedding gown when you got rather large girls. hahah I can't not wear a bra but also some bra sew ins I've seen at wedding are borderline nip slips haha. Just wanted to know if you had success.

I'm rather petite 5' 4'', 140 pounds with 34DD so I'm a little worried Any encouragement would help Smiley smile

I'm a 32DD and had a backless dress. I had cups sewn in and then used double sided tape to make sure thing slipped.

Is your dress strapless? I have similar measurements, 36 DD. Not having one added. But can share what I am doing? Lol Both my dresses are backless but one is illusion top so I found these underwire silicone sticky bras that go over your shoulder instead of around your back. My other dress is a high neck open back, they altered to fit with out a bra because they couldn't sew one in... part of why I have a second dress. The alterations around my neck are so tight and uncomfortable. I know that wasn't encouraging but I'm sure if they are saying they can do it, it should work. They were very honest that it was only going to make my chest situation worse. Lol

My dress has a low back, so I needed some support (38DD). The bodice overall was tight enough that we just had to add cups in basically so my boobs would have somewhere to sit. It wasn't like a full bra, just a little padded cup. My dress does have straps though and is fitted around the waist.

Depending on the style of dress in the front you may be able to actually take an old bra that still fits you well through the cup and simply have the fitter sew in the bra without the band into the dress. That way you have the underwire and support you would like without having to sacrifice the way the back looks. Just having cups sewn in (basically the bra part without the underwire) may also work for you as Jessica mentioned.
