Jennalyn, on July 8, 2016 at 6:22 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 8

I'm debating on if I should make the backdrop for behind my head table or just find a company to rent it.anyone have input if you made yousr how easy was it? Will the price difference be significant?

Definitely depends on what you're looking for! Do you have any inspiration pictures you could post?

Yea it would help if we knew what back drop you were looking for. FH made two for our wedding (rustic barn doors) but he is very good at making stuff like that and we have all the tools to make stuff like that. However before he made them I did check craigslist and other rental vendors to see what was out there. There are pretty reasonable backdrops but we personally couldn't find any we really wanted. The cost honestly was about half for us to make it than rent something similar I found on Craigslist!

My advice if you take on a diy is make sure you have the skills, tools and time. If not make it easy and rent something.

Depends on what you're going for. (and what the venue already has) we have a 14 ft fireplace behind us my mom is making decorations for the mantle. What's your inspiration?

I looked into renting and opted to make mine. I was trying to hide an ugly window and didn't want anything too crazy. I thought about a ribbon backdrop and modified that. It doesn't have a frame so it is cheaper. If I had to make a frame like the one you are looking at it can be cheaper to rent. Someone suggested a site for renting backdrops like the one in your inspiration pic and it was reasonable. I'll have to find the link.

    ETA to add link: rentmywedding.com

Unless you can make for certain that it's sturdy and not a potential hazard/safety concern, I'd see if I could rent something like that. Bulk lights/tulle/pvc aren't that bad on their own, but with the something that big with liability of a tip hazard I'd probably price some places.
