back up plan for rain on invitation?

Alison, on March 7, 2015 at 1:16 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 1

Hi! My fiance has been pretty stubborn about having an outdoor ceremony at a NYC park. I am very nervous about the chance of rain. He feels a good back up plan is having the ceremony location at the reception venue, but I wouldn't know how to word that on an invitation or even notify guests. Is that even possible? It seems like it would be unfair to guests not knowing where the ceremony is until a week before. Thoughts? Thanks!

You could word your invitation normally. Add a small card that say, "In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at (name your reception venue)".

You'll have to decide what determines inclement weather, and give your guests a contact number in case they are confused.
