Just Said Yes October 2025

Back to square one

My fiancé and I have been engaged for 2 years. We are enjoying our engagement while saving up to have a wedding with our friends and family. We are not looking to have a big wedding, as we rather have an intimate gathering. Both our families are large Italian families but we have decided to do a max of 75 people (I wouldn’t mind if there was less). I want to get married outside and I do not want to move on this. We found the perfect venue that we put a deposit down on and created a strict budget plan we are on tract with. Unfortunately, we were taken by surprise by our landlord not wanting to renew our lease for another year (though that was the plan discussed) as they are moving in. We had to use our savings to pay over $5000 for our first month, deposit and start up costs. That was our second payment for the venue… we no longer can afford the venue and have to pull and take the loss of our deposit (not a small amount). We are currently looking for a small venue that has an outdoor ceremony area that isn’t crazy expensive. I have had no luck. To rent a spot of land to say “I Do” is well over $1800. And even a tent rental is $10k.. we thought of eloping but both our sides of the family was up in arms. I get it, if they arnt paying for the wedding, the. Why do they have a say? Let’s just say this goes deeper than just what is on the surface. I am struggling to find a venue that fits a $5-10k wedding budget.. we have to start all over and I am panicking. I have reached out to friends and family to see if they could assist in looking for a area to get married in (outside) someone’s yard, a park, anything. But I am coming up short. I just want to get married but I do not have the funds to do so.. again, I am not looking for a Pinterest wedding. I am looking for a simple, easy going wedding that is outside. Any advice?

Google the parks department yourself and with your partner tour spaces with an open air pavilion with a roof and bathrooms. Some may offer seating. You pay permits. Or look into public libraries or city gazebos. Drop off catering will keep costs lower. Good luck.
