Back of my dress

Alright ladies I need some opinions on this. The back of my dress is pretty open and originally only has one closure on the very top of the straps in the back (first pic- crappy picture and very dodgy job hooking it by myself 😂) but does it look better being more closed in the back? I would add hooks to the "swirls" on the back to make it more racerback looking. (Second picture kindof what it would look like)
I just dont know if the second option would take something away from the dress or not.

Obviously the dress still needs to be altered and make the illusion part fit a little better on my back but I think the idea is there 😂

I think the second picture simply looks better because you’re holding it in a way that it fits better. I think what it’s altered even without hooks it will shift to appear a bit more “closed” . I wouldn’t add hooks UNLESS it felt uncomfortable/insecure. I see what you’re seeing but I think it will all be sorted with standard alterations, simply discuss with your seamstress if you prefer the more closed look. However— I would not add lower hooks as I think that that will limit/affect your arm mobility and kind of ‘pull’ when you move.

Once it’s altered it’s going to fit you differently and the open back will look great

It's hard to tell since the bottom picture is being held in place - I prefer the more open back, as long as it is altered to fit you perfectly and isn't gaping. Beautiful dress!

I agree with this hardcore. You are holding the dress in a way that it makes it tighter. Once your dress is properly altered I think it will make it appear more closed as well. I would address it with a seamstress but wait until after its taken in properly and re-evaluate how it sits.
