Back fat in dress???

Franny, on June 21, 2021 at 10:30 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
I'm getting married in 5 days. My wedding dress is extremely tight (because it's strapless the seamstress insisted) and I'm now having worries about the amount of back fat showing. Thoughts???

Wouldn't have noticed if you didn't call attention to it.

Your seamstress is in the wrong and should have made the dress in your size, not too tight. Though I can see why they thought it might be a good idea since now you won't have to pull it up all night/worry about it falling down since it is strapless

Sadly I don't think there is much you can do, are you planning on having a lot of pictures of your back? I don't think anyone will notice/care. I just hope you are comfortable and can breathe in your dress, hope it isn't too too tight.

It really doesn't look that bad, and I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it! I agree with, AJ...your seamstress was 100% in the wrong and should have altered it to fit you and what you were comfortable with. It could've been altered to fit you comfortably, without having it fall down so I don't really agree with their logic either.

There's not much you can do since you're wedding is so close, but I honestly don't think anyone will notice! You could always get a little shawl or something to cover your back if you're really self conscious about it. I just hope you feel comfortable and can breathe and feel good in it!

I agree with the other posters. However, one trick is to "smooth" things out. Your MOH or someone can basically push the skin (it's not fat, it's literally just skin and maybe a little bit of fat tissue) back into the dress, and it should look a lot better. But yeah, considering the top button isn't buttoned, she definitely made it too tight.

I don't think it looks bad and agree with the other posters. You should be able to button the top button!

I could tell it's too tight and looks uncomfortable. The problem is with the dress, not your body. I don't know what your seamstress was thinking.

Girl, you definitely do not have any backfat. I came in here thinking you'd have a back-bum, like I did when I tried on the sample dress I bought which was a size too small for me, but there's nothing like that! You look stunning. There is a tiny bit of overhang, but honestly it looks fine.

I think if you're truly worried about it, ask your bridesmaids to smooth it out and kind of even the skin across the back before you walk down the aisle/do your first dance/whatever bit you're most worried about. The shop assistant did that with the sample dress I tried and it made a huge difference.

This! One trick I have learned is that as you button/zip/lace up the dress, have your MOH (or whoever) smooth your skin from the inside out (start at spine, smooth towards your arms). It truly helps.

You look amazing and that dress is beautiful!!
