BACK FAT... in a Corset Dress!!

Brandy, on May 16, 2014 at 10:45 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Okay... so... I started my weight loss journey around this exact time LAST YEAR. Was doing phenomenal. Until I wasn't. Sure enough.. mid PLATEAU... HE PROPOSES! I still go to boot camp, eat right, and try try try... BUT THE SCALE REFUSES TO BUDGE ANOTHER POUND (although I still stand to lose AT LEAST another 25lbs). It makes me sad because time is running out to lose this stubborn weight (wedding is Mid October so I would assume i need to do the final fitting mid September)...

So, here's my question... CAN THE BUST of a corset dress be taken OUT any at all, so as to "forgive" some of the inevitable BACK FAT that MOST GIRLS (of all sizes) experience in strapless dresses? The dress is paid for. There's no turning back now. But, as with any bride... I want to FEEL beautiful. I know OTHERS will tell me I look beautiful... but I want TO FEEL it. I want to SEE what they are seeing... and as long as that bulge of back fat is plopped over my dress... I don't see that happening.

I'm not sure about taking it out - but I would assume you could as long as there is enough fabric. You can talk to your alterations person about it. We are so hard on ourselves, I'm sure the back fat isn't as bad as you might think it is - and you're right - EVERYONE gets it. Don't stress about it - you'll be gorgeous because you'll be happy you're marrying your FH!

I think we should start a pro-back fat movement...My sister is tiny and fit and still has it :/. Why do we DO this to ourselves???

They can let it out a little. You'll have to decide if the risk and expense are worth it.

I stressed out about back fat. After all the weight loss (admittedly did not lose as much as I wanted), I still had more than I wanted AND I had some loose skin issues. It really, really bothered me and then..,

-Photographer admitted that they have to touch up "back-boob" photos on even the skinny-minis.

    - My husband said "Stop! I don't like it when you are so hard on yourself. I think you are drop-dead gorgeous and, when you are overly critical of you, it sometimes feels like you are saying I am an idiot." (D'aww)

Ugh back fat. The one thing that haunts me. I bought a longer veil just to cover it for my ceremony.

I have noticed that sometimes the undergarments that we put ourselves in actually cause the backfat to be worse. The strapless bra the dress shop put me in for my dress shopping pushed up the skin and flab on my back and caused this problem. I had them sow in cups so I don't have to wear a bra and I don't have any issues like I did when I first tried on. They put you in those ones that are supposed to flatten the stomache, but sometimes I think all it does is push things up and out... Just my opinion

    1)embrace you back fat....

    2) I love the veil idea

    3) you still have time, try mixing up your workout routine. Add weight training.

On another topic, it is typical for bodies to stall out when you lose weight. Try not to get frustrated. I am using the myfitnesspal ap (and website) which is free and helps me track calories and weight and exercise. If you wanted to download it and look me up I'm Sarah5miles. You may be eating more calories than you think you are or maybe you need to change up your routine and throw in more cardio. If your body gets used to your workout routine sometimes that causes stalls as well.

Like Tiffany, my veil's purpose is to cover the back fat. The back fat is the sole thing causing me distress in all of this wedding planning.

I'm frustrated as well. Been dieting and working out since last year and all I've lost is 5 lbs Smiley sad

Ask alterations to loosen it or don't tie the corset too tight. Having the same issue.

I don't know if anyone can dodge the "back fat". I was very thin at my wedding (not any more, lol) and still had back fat, so I think it happen to the majority of brides. But they should be able to let it out a little and they may have to get a wider modesty panel. It definitely sounds doable, but then again, I'm not a seamstress. But don't worry about it too much Smiley smile

    Songbird, that's so f*ing cute haha My man has gotten upset about me losing weight; I think it's more of how we want to see ourselves than how we want them to see us, if that makes sense. We all want that princess moment...stupid back fat. AND ARMPIT CLEAVAGE!! AAHALAHA >:{

I contemplated buying a jacket to cover mine; I love the veil idea...

Any big-boob brides have good experiences with the sewn-in cups? I bought a corset, but honestly, I agree that sometimes these types of undergarments exaggerate the issue instead of correcting it. I've been having nightmares that my boobs will flop out of my dress in the middle of the ceremony, though...

I know it's hard; trying to lose weight is always stressful, and when you add in the stress of wedding planning and the money spent on pictures, it's about 100 fold.
