Bachelorette Party with no Bridal Party

Alejandra, on September 13, 2013 at 12:49 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

What is the norm for having a Bachelorette Party when there is no MOH or Bridesmaids?

I'd really like to do something with my closests friends/family (no club, no passion party, def no strippers). Something more relaxed like a day at the spa or weekend trip to palm strips to lounge around a pool and have some margaritas. However, I don't have a bridal party to plan it. Would it be weird if I made the plans and have a friend send out the invitations/handle rsvps?

Also, FH would like a day at the track with his friends (they ride motorcycles) but I figured men don't really care about wedding ettiquette so he can just invite them all lol

If you want a bachelorette, why not tell etiquette where to go and do gifted days to each other.

FH "organises" (well, appears to have) a nice day out for you and your girls.

You sort out a day at the track for him and his friends.

It's not strictly a bachelorette done in the traditional way, more of a "I get to spend the rest of my life with you so here's a day when your friends get you all to themselves."

I know several gals that didn't have a bridal party but still had bridal showers and bachelorette parties. It is becoming more common to not have a bridal party. I wouldn't have FH organize it but rather your girl friends if they've offered.

I planned my bachelorette party, FH and I are having a joint bachelor/bachelorette soiree, we rented a party bus and invited my BMs and some other girls and their dates to ride around and hang out with us. No one thought it was weird or rude that I did the planning, maybe because it's a joint event. I would just figure out what you want to do and send invite your girls!

@alejandra I plan to throw my own bachlorette party. None of my friends have the funds or interest in throwing me a party.

Thanks for the different ideas Smiley smile I will talk to FH and see what we come up with. I'd really like just a day spent with my friends but they don't all know eachother so it's best if I at least do some of the planning and ask one of them to be in charge of collecting the rsvps.

I don't think it's rude/against etiquette to throw your own bachelorette party. It is rude/against etiquette to throw your own bridal shower however, where gifts/registries are involved.

I'm so glad you posted this. I don't have a bridal party or any close gf and still wanted to celebrate but thought it would be against etiquette to plan something for myself. Smiley smile
