Bachelorette-AUSTIN!

Aly, on November 8, 2017 at 10:05 AM Posted in Texas Planning 0 10

My MOH is planning to have my bachelorette in Austin (yay!!) and is looking for hotel suggestions. I don't know anything about Austin, the different areas of the city, or what it is important to be near for hotel purposes. Suggestions would be helpful! Thanks!

I've been there for a double bachelorette and my sister is thinking to plan mine there as well.

6th street is the nightlife hot spot, so somewhere close to downtown would be ideal. But there are tons of things to do. Depends on your crowd as well

If you have a hotel in downtown Austin, you'll spend a tonnn of money. Try to stay near Townlake or right outside of downtown. They don't have Uber, but they have Ride Austin, which is similar. The Airbnb's in Austin are about as expensive at the hotels downtown if that's where you're looking to stay and many require large deposits.

Just have them do their research. I'm a very frequent visitor and I've never stayed in their Airbnb's near midtown or downtown because of the prices. Remember that the University Of Texas is also near downtown and depending on the time of year, you'll deal with graduation and price hikes on all hotels and Airbnb's.

My bachelorette was in Austin this summer, and we stayed at the Hilton. 6th street is "over" according to multiple local people who planned it, and the cool scene is on Rainey St.

You are in luck that Uber is back in Austin because you do not want to drive anywhere. Worst traffic anywhere because the roads were designed for a drastically smaller population. Stay in a hotel as close to the bar scene you want to go to as possible. It will be worth a more expensive hotel stay if you save on uber, valet and parking fees. FYI all of the downtown hotels had insane parking fees.

Airbnb and HomeAway are good options. If price is not a concern there's places like the Omni, boutique B&Bs and Austin's historic hotel The Driskell

If you want to go crazy, stay near 6th street.

If you are looking for bars but not a lot of college students, Rainey St. 4th St. area is where you want to stay. I think this where the B&B boutiques are.

If you are looking for a chilled experience, you can try looking in the hill country area or by lake Travis. It can get pricey but there are spas and large houses you can rent out. Or there's The Domain in North Austin which is like a mini downtown area away from the downtown traffic.

I live here! Honestly I'd suggest an airbnb downtown or near 35 on the east side. "Dirty" 6th is exactly what it sounds like, but east of 35 on 6th is the "hipster" area and there are some great bars there. Highly highly recommend white horse for line dancing and cheap drinks to start a Friday night off.

East Austin (east of I35) is a cool place to stay, and it isn't too far from downtown. Definitely recommend Rainey street as opposed to 6th street, but that's just my preference because the bars are nicer/cuter and the crowd is a little more tame. If you are looking for crazy partying, everyone-around-you-drunk, go to 6th. I am hosting my sister's bachelorette here as well, and we are going to rent an air bnb in south Austin, and go to Fredericksburg and the hill country for wine tasting (like a Texas version of Napa Valley, about an hour outside of Austin). You can look on do512 website for lots of different events going on around the time as well.

ETA: More recommendations: south congress is always fun, with lots of funky shops and good places to eat. The Domain is about 15 minutes north and is basically an outdoor shopping area with lots of bars and restaurants as well.
