Bachelor Party Flop

AlmostMrsT, on August 25, 2015 at 10:49 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

We are in the awful position of realizing FH's bachelor party is falling through the cracks. His groomsmen aren't very organized, and the close friend he appointed to organize the event (since he lives in the area they were planning on going to) isn't doing much. The original plan was to book a cabin in Northern New England for a few days, do some boating, fishing, have some quality man-time, with 1 big night out. The party-planning-friend made the mistake of inviting a big group of college friends, before knowing the estimated cost, putting guys in the backwards scenario of not knowing what they were signing up for cost-wise. The cabin still has yet to be found, so the majority of party-goers are RSVPing no, since they don't know how much it will cost them. We explored area hotels, which are even more expensive (damn leaf-peeping season lol), and seem to be running out of options. Has anyone run into a similar situation? I hate seeing FH disappointed Smiley sad

It does sound like a costly weekend regardless of how many people were invited. It sounds like your husband's been involved in planning already, why not just have something local for most of the guys, or just a day golfing?

I would also like to mention that we are now working on a Plan B option. FH's 30th birthday is 1 month after our October wedding. His favorite college football team is playing in the area, so we are thinking of putting together a big party to watch the game. I know its not the same as a bachelor party, but it could be a fun night out - right? Or is it an obvious consolation-party? Ugh, I hate this situation.

Your plan b sounds fun! my FH wanted a party bus and tried to plan that but most of his friends are also saying they can't go so the few that can come (Thursday before our Saturday wedding) won't be able to afford paying for a lot. he only wants one night and i think he is a little disappointed as well Smiley sad poor guy.

Yeah bachelor/bachelorette parties are tough, you need to have someone very organized plan them, and people need to know the cost that they are signing up for! I think your plan b still sounds great if you can't pull off plan a. Boys love football and will have a blast watching the game and then they can all go out that night!

Why doesn't his friend just plan a local night out for the bachelor party, and you can still plan a 30th birthday party if you want? The bach party doesn't have to be all or nothing!

Is your FH (and his friends) into camping? Maybe instead of a cabin, they could go camping and still do all of those activities....

    Plan B sounds fun too!

Camping is a good idea! I don't think we've talked about that. Hotel rates even for a single night are still higher than we anticipated.

CatsBoninCats - We live in Western MA now. FH is from Vermont, and I grew up in Rhode Island. They wanted to go to Burlington, VT for the bachelor party - and the Plan B football party will be in Boston. So in short, we are all over the place haha.
