Baby ring bearer?

HappilyHauser, on April 5, 2017 at 10:22 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

I really want to have my nephew as our ring bearer. The problem is, he will be a week shy of 1 year old at our wedding, so he won't be walking yet. I know the most obvious way to have him go down the aisle is in a cute wagon, but I don't know who to have pull the wagon as I don't have any other young children in my life. Should my step sister just do it since it's her son? Or I could have my brother (18 years old) do it since he doesn't have a "job" in the wedding? Any ideas? Anybody else in this situation?

It would probably be best if one of the parents did it. My sons are going to be one next week and I would be with them the entire time even if I wasn't pulling them, just because they're still very young and unpredictable as well.

I have a toddler and I wouldn't let her be pulled, in a wagon; it's too dangerous.

In fact, I wouldn't even let her be a part of a wedding party, at that age, or anywhere close to it.

    Good luck!

I was considering a sign (the only sign ) for my nephew who will be about 15 months that says "they don't trust me with the rings " when he walks lol

I work in OB so I see babies all of the time!

It depends on the child. Some kids at that age HATE being handled by someone else other than mom or dad. I would say the safest bet is to have mom pull him down on the wagon or something else like that!

We are doing the same thing with our nephew!! I was just thinking who is gonna pull him today. His parents are in the wedding so maybe a grandparent?

I love babies in wagons. Ive seen it done at a wedding last year and it was the cutest thing ever. Usually their mom/dad pulls them. But I see no harm in your brother pulling it either, so long as mom is comfortable with that. Babies are fragile. 18 yr old boys are careless. One wrong pull and it could be dangerous if not deadly for the child. Also many babies walk at 9-12 months so its definitely possible that your nephew can walk with so assistance.

We have this issue with our niece so we decided just to skip having a ring bearer and flower girl. Nobody's going to miss it.

Your safest (and most tasteful) option is not to have a child that young involved or even present.

Oh god that poor embarrassed teenager. Plus, how ever do you think a baby that age will stay put in a wagon?

An 11 month old should never be a ring bearer or flower girl. What's the point if they are incapable of doing the job their title requires?

If he can at least take steps by then, holding on to someone, I think it would be cutest for mom to grab him and help him down the aisle, taking those cutest baby steps!

I think people really enjoy seeing babies walking like that, and it'll keep their eyes on him, and not on the adults with him. He'll probably be most preoccupied too, and not worried about all these strangers staring at him, in a wagon, doing nothing. Lol

Strap him in the wagon and attach a remote control car to it. Just an idea

Half of me hopes the remote control car idea is a joke. The other half wants to see how epicly horrible that would play out.
