Babies and Seating charts

september2018, on June 23, 2018 at 11:28 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 17

Hello,

Just started my rough draft of my seating chart. I was just wondering if babies should get their own seat. There are a few babies less than a year old who cannot sit and then some infants just over a year old who can sit. What is the etiquette for this??

It depends on if your venue will be providing a high chair or booster seat. Also with infants you may want to consider where the table is located (near speakers) or accommodating a small stroller or baby carrier as it is many hours and many children often go down for a nap. Best of luck!

I only counted ages 12 and up for a seat to themselves, i feel moat time kids would prefer to sit on a parents lap or theyll be running around with other kids

Our youngest guests are just around 1 year old, and we are giving them seats for themselves. Our venue will be providing high chairs for them. Others are 3 and older, and we're not asking for any special seating for them (but have seats for them).

We will have two babies at our wedding. We are renting two highchairs and placing them accordingly.

Contact the parents and ask their preference. Even for small babies parents will need an empty chair to place the baby carrier. Otherwise they will have to place it on the floor behind their chair and it will be in the way. For older babies they may need a high chair.

Only someone without kids would think that a parent would want a 9 yr old sitting on their lap. That is absurd.

What?! My 1 year old would be pissed if she had to sit on my lap, and my 5 year old would just flat out refuse. We would leave if this happened to us.

I would do 1 and older. Trying to eat with a 8 year old on your lap would be hard.

Even if they end up on a parent’s lap they will still need the extra space for two meals and the option to sit alone. It’s hard having a child in your lap through a whole meal. Plan on a seat for everyone.

You might wanna change that! When I was 11 I was taller and weighed more than my mother. Most kids over 4 do not ever sit in a parents lap

I will still be having chairs for the infants at my wedding in case their parents want I bring a carrier in. My caterer allows the chair to be replaced with a high chair so I will be renting a few high chairs in case

You need to provide some kind of chair be it a high chair, sling, or regular chair as no parent really wants to have their child only on their lap for 3-5 hours. If the child can not sit by themselves I would suggest a sling or chair so the carrier may be placed on/in it. If the child can sit in their own I would suggest a hair chair.

Have a seat for everyone. If I was expected to hold my child all night, I wouldn't be staying very long.

You know your family better then anyone else, for me i know the little ones wont sit in a seat for more than 5 minuets or every wedding ive been to a parent puts 3 bites of food into their mouth as theyre standing up ready to go and run off with other kids that are there.. 12 was just an age range of (kids) who would more than likley actually sit there and eat a full meal.. but if you have 2 year olds that will sit in a chair the whole time and eat then get them a seat, im having a smaller wedding and know the personality of the little ones that will be there. but if youre very unsure then get a seat for all of them

Like i said she should know her wedding guest but if shes unsure then she can get a seat for everyone so i guess her 10 year old guest will have seats.

Ask your venue. I asked mine because I have a 2 year old and an almost 1 year old and they told me it’s up to the parent. If the parent wants a high chair or a regular chair. In my case the 2 year old will sit in a chair while the almost 1 year old will have a high chair.
