Babaroni vs Azazie

Emily, on January 15, 2019 at 8:09 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 24
Hi ladies!

So, I was going to have my maids get their dresses from Azazie, because they have some pretty affordable options, plus I love that they can try them on. But I just came across Babaroni- they have, like, 40 style options for $99!! (For the record, I’m going to let my girls choose the style, as long as it’s floor length and the same color.) So they have a lot more “really” cheap options on that site, but less amenities, like the try at home feature, or the fact that Azazie will reimburse you for alterations to custom orders. I guess my question is, has anyone used Babaroni, and what was your experience? It seems too good to be true, price wise, and I’m concerned the quality and/or service are lacking!

I went with Azazie, I haven't heard of Babaroni. I love the customer service from Azazie, they are so helpful. One of my bridesmaids already got her dress, and loves it! Plus Azazie had so many good reviews.

    Hello Emily!

I've personally never heard of Babaroni and I wasn't able to find a lot of information on it. It looks like their individual dresses have some reviews, but I can't find any reviews for Babaroni as a whole. Are they maybe a newer company? I know Azazie has a lot of positive reviews and a lot of our community members have used them though!

What color dresses are your bridesmaids going to wear?

I got a babaroni dress. Seemed well made but didn't fit quite right. They were willing to have me return it, but I had to pay for shipping back to the factory in CHINA.

Hi Sarah I just got my Babaroni dress and it was too small...I need to return it and wanted to know how much did you have to pay for shipping?? Also do they refund the full payment minus shipping? I got confused on the return faq page bc I thought I saw they will only pay up to $50 on dresses $99-199? I’m currently looking on posh mark for a dress bc I’m 10 days til my bff wedding Smiley sad

I've bought a lot of dresses in BABARONI, the size is wrong at first because my fault, but i like the design so i kept it. anyway, it's cheap and nice so i would recommend BABARONI. Just make sure your size is right, then everything will be perfect.

A bride in a DIY Wedding Facebook group I belong to just commented that she "wouldn't wish Babaroni on [her] worst enemy." Didn't mention details, though. Otherwise, I can't find anything about them online. I'm assuming the comment above mine by Claire is spam.

DO NOT BUY FROM Babaroni. I ordered a dress in standard size and when it came in it was not only the wrong color but it was also too small. I requested to return the dress and have been getting a run around by the "support team". They have been refusing to send me a return label and stated "it would be easiest if [I] just resold the dress on ebay. Per their own policy I am able to return a standard size dress. It's been weeks now of constant emailing and I haven't been able to return my dress or receive a refund.

I had my girls order through babaroni and let me tell you, it was nothing short of a disaster! All 8 girls had something go wrong. Thankfully it all got worked out in the end but I’d for sure stick with Azazie if i were you! Learn from my mistakes 🤣 good luck to you and congratulations!

Many congrats! Emily! I would like to recommend BABARONI. I bought a bridesmaid dress in this April. They have quick online communication. It's really helpful. And they got me. They know what I need. By the way, I got a customized dress, so it fits perfectly. I have to say, the price is their advantage, it is really cheap. They sometimes have a free shipping promotion. It's really a bargain. And the dress is great as well, very nice, very comfortable.

I’ll be ordering bridesmaids dresses this month from both companies for two separate weddings (obviously). I was having the same concerns as you and after looking into both this is my conclusion. I think the only real difference between these companies and the reason why Azazie has a better reputation is because Azazie operates as an American company out of San Jose, California while Babaroni operates out of Jiangsu, China. However, Azazie dresses are also manufactured, made to order by factories throughout China, and Babaroni our of one. I assume that Azazie uses different factories for quality and profit/monetary reasons. As for returns I think that both companies will only accept a return if there’s an actual issue on their part in making the dress and not because you don’t like it. I’ll update on this thread once I get my dresses and the overall experience if anyone wants.

P.S. for Azazie, in order to ensure that the bridesmaids dresses are all the exact same color/shade the bride or a bridesmaid needs to make a showroom that all bridesmaids need to be added into. Then all the bridesmaids will have to place their order with 24 hours of when the first dress in the party was ordered. There will be a drop down option at checkout that will have the showroom ID that you have to click on, this ensures that all the dresses for the bridal party are dyed from the same batch of dye. While Babaroni requires all bridesmaids order within 24 hours of each other.

The run around is so accurate. The customer service is terrible. They respond every 1-2 days (I am currently on Day 8 of emails with no resolution). I bought a swatch and then bowties and ties which did not match! They said it is because of different material (not advertised) and now keep going on and on with inaccurate statements about my order when I requested a partial refund. They do not even email you a receipt upon purchase to reference. I am livid. Do NOT order from them unless you want a GIANT headache, poor quality, and to feel demoralized by the end of it.

Has everyone had a simple time returning dresses to Azazie? After reading these comments it seems I would be better off ordering from them. There are different shapes in my bridal party, so I want to make sure that everyone can return their dress easily if needed. Also, has anyone done this bridal show room like mentioned above? That seems like a lot of hassle and I don't understand why all the girls can't just order the dress in the same color and be fine.

Just wanted to pop in and say that the colour thing has to do with the possibility of colour variations due to different dye batches, so the dressmakers will need to ensure the dresses are made from fabric dyed in the same batch Smiley smile

    - Love a knitter who has mittens with two different dye batches and it definitely shows.

Tl;dr: PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If you must due to bride's request or some other situation, do NOT order custom sizing, as you may need to alter it, possibly quite a lot.

I never write reviews, but my experience with Babaroni is truly the worst customer service experience I have ever had. Please trust the reviews with low ratings; I'm honestly not sure if the reviews with high ratings are real, especially the ones that state that communication with them is excellent. Their email replies have been unpleasant to receive, please see examples below, and their English is poor.

I ordered a custom sized dress, and it was 2.5" too long with extremely large breast area, even though I shared that I was 5'1" with a 32" bust. They offered to pay for the alteration ("If you feel that the dress is not suitable, you could take it to the local area to modify it, and we will compensate you according to your modification cost."), which is the customer service I would expect for a custom sized dress that was made so unusually large. However, after I sent them a receipt for $138 of alterations, they said they would only pay $35. Since they refused to pay for the full alteration, which was upsetting because the cost to alter was surprisingly high due to the amount of alteration needed, I asked for a full refund per their Return Policy (""In order to provide a better shopping experience and customer service, we will issue a full refund including shipping fee right away for any damaged, defective or mishandled products. If you find any quality problems with our product when you receive your package, please contact our customer service team. We will arrange a free replacement, return or refund as soon as possible."), but they refused. They are offering a maximum of $50 refund, which makes my $118 dress cost $206 after the alterations/refund. The dress is not worth $206.

Please also see quotes from their email communications to me:

    "We checked your custom-sized dress.
First, your height is 61 inches. Normally, the height of your collarbone to the floor is 51 inches, plus 4 inches of shoes. Totolly, the skirt length is about 55 inches. Under normal circumstances, due to measurement or manual problems, errors within 3cm can be passed." Of note, I submitted the length of my collarbone to floor as 50 inches, not 51 inches. Also, 3 cm is 1.18 inches, which is the difference between dragging on the floor and being 0.5" off the floor.

"Second, The waistline is based on your height, so it will not be low." But the waistline was low, as I informed them. I found it rude of them to refute a true statement.

"We received your photos and sent them to professionals for viewing. They said that maybe the bust of your dress is a little bigger for you, so the side without straps feels inappropriate. Regarding the waistline you mentioned, I also asked for it for you. They replied that the shoulder straps are a bit long for you. You could take the dress to the tailor and shorten the straps. We will give you some compensation according to the revised cost and look forward to your reply" Yes, the bust is too large and the shoulder straps are too long, as the dress was made way too large for my measurements.

"According to our revised policy, your dress is 99 dollars on our website, and the maximum compensation we can provide is 35 dollars." Of note, I ordered the Babaroni Maggie, which costs $109. They are being cheap, as their website offers more than $35 compensation for altering dresses >$99. They then continued, "And we inquired that you paid US$118.99 for this order, and you used the free postage discount. Although you don't need to pay the postage, we still need to pay the postage of $19.99 to the courier company, and the custom size fee of 9.99 to the workers. We also need to go out for workers’ wages and cloth money."

"Is your skirt damaged? According to the photos you sent before, it seems that there is no. Your dress is not a standard size either. Obviously we could give you a full refund. And you paid US$118.99, why should we ask us to refund you US$138." My dress is not damaged, no, but it was not the size I ordered. And of note, I explained my request for $138 to cover the cost of alteration.

"We defintely make the dress by the size you provide, and about height and length we have explained with you before." Please keep in mind this was written after their "professionals" acknowledged that the shoulder strap was too long, the bust too large, and the dress too long.

"And we sent the invoice to our financial staff, when they checked, they found that the color of your order was rust, but the color of the skirt on the invoice was orange" I clarified this with them. It sounds like they were insinuating deceit on my end that my alteration receipt listed orange instead of my order color rust. Rust is a shade of orange...

    Don't go to barbaroni!!
Absolutely awful experience and made looking for bridesmaid a much more stressful experience than it should have been! Bought one bridesmaid dress as a trial (thank god I didn't buy them all!). We sized up and everything but the dress that arrived was not a 24 but more like a 10. My poor maid of honour couldn't even get it on. Managed to eventually get a return address (be aware! You will have to pay to return it which for me was £25...good way to deter people from returning it by the way)...4 months later still hadn't heard anything, eventually had to put a claim in with PayPal which soon got them moving! They eventually offered me a part refund and due to my wedding being in two weeks and still having to go to uni, I didn't have the time or the mental capacity to keep fighting.
Apparently everything is in there refund policy but it wasn't clear and I could find nothing. Please please please, if you want a stress free dress shopping experience, do not buy from here. They have destroyed my mental health through stress and I do not want any other brides going through this!

Jjshouse, airycloth, floryday, florydeals, airydress, azazie are all the same supply chain located in China, Babaroni's products are distinctive, differentiation, perhaps each site's marketing style is different, do advertise the spread of maturity is also not the same, I personally prefer babaroni's simple style, a variety of colours, and after-sales response is very timely.

Hi! I had the same doubts as you at first when I was going to buy a dress for a prom. Azazie is relatively more famous, but the price of Babaroni was really attractive to me, and Babaroni also has many good comments, I finally chose babaroni. I ordered it in June and received it earlier than expected. What I want to tell you is that it really surprised me! I Love it! The color is almost the same as their pictures. It looks soooo beautiful which satisfied me a lot! Though it needs a little altering, the quality is amazingly great. I totally recommend Babaroni. I will order more dresses in November for my sister's wedding.

Hello, the bridesmaid dress I bought from Azazie arrived and I knew right away it was cheap, the material of the dress felt a bit cheap and plastic when I put it on, and the fabric of the dress made me feel uncomfortable, this dress I don't really like the structure either. And I hope they can improve their customer service because their customer service requires a long wait.
