Azazie Bridesmaid Dresses from Different Dye Lots - That Much of a Difference?

ap2al, on April 17, 2018 at 6:36 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 10
Good morning WW Community!
A few days ago, I posted about when would be a good time for the bridesmaids to order their dresses. Thanks to all your advice, they went ahead and ordered them! Now, they all ordered within the 24 hours to guarantee the same dye lot to essentially guarantee the exact same color. HOWEVER, two of the dresses are lace and chiffon as opposed to chiffon and would not be from the same dye lot.

For those who have ordered Azazie and used different fabrics or dye lots, were the colors still extremely close (as if you couldn't tell the difference)? It worked out where the MOH and the Matron of Honor both picked lace and chiffon and the rest of the party picked chiffon, so even if the two dresses are different from the others, it works out (go figure!), but I was just still curious.

Thanks in advance!

When considering synthetic fabrics, like the ones from Azazie, David's, and most other major dress retailers, dye colors are well controlled by fiber consistancy and computer controlled dye mixing. The difference from one lot to another is pretty minimal. Back in the day when fabrics were hand dyed in human mixed colors, dye lots were a bigger deal. Natural fibers (cotton, silk, linen, wool, bamboo, hemp...) are not a consistent in the fibers. As such the way each lot takes the tie can vary quite a bit.

I ordered swatches from Azazie to see which color I wanted. They sent me each fabric too in the colors I requested. The chiffon and lace were pretty similar. They may be a touch different depending on the color, but I dont think it will be a major difference. They should blend very nicely!!

They won't perfectly match. I ordered swatches when I was deciding on color and the different fabrics were all slightly different. I don't think it will be a big noticeable difference though!

If the same styles are the same dye lot it will be fine. Different materials would look different anyways in pictures even if they were dyed at the same time. It will look great Smiley smile

As the first responder said, dye lots are not that much of a concern anymore. They used to be, when we were still using natural fabrics like cotton, wool and silk.

The chiffon in the MOH's dresses will be the same as the BM's dresses. They dye the fabric, not the dresses. The lace may take up the dye slightly different than the chiffon, but it will all look great.

I'm risking it. All my bridesmaids are ordering from Azazie in the same color, length, and fabric but different dresses and ordering different times. When I asked the Azazie customer support, they said the color varies a lot if you are choosing different fabrics but it doesn't vary that much for the same fabric. I ordered their sample dresses for $10 to see the color difference. So you could order a lace one and a chiffon one and see how much you like/dislike them next to each other?

Thank you everyone for the comments!

The two different dresses are lace at top and chiffon at the bottom, so they aren’t completely different. I’ve never ordered dresses from here, so curious about the process and how it will turn out! I have no doubt it’ll be gorgeous, and at the end of the day, all that matters is that my FH and I say I Do, and everyone we love is there to celebrate Smiley smile

I ordered swatches of the different colors from Azazies that I was interested in. Some of the colors for different fabrics were a lot different and some were super close to the same. Which color were you looking at?

Hi! I got the burgundy color; I ordered the swatches and noticed the color change between the fabrics because that's just common, and I expected it. I just didn't see the lace portion (or maybe I did and forgot).

It actually works out though because, like I said, the MOH and Matron of Honor are the only ones who got lace and chiffon while the other girls got just chiffon haha. I'll take it! Smiley smile
