Average Quote for a Photographer in Northern California

Brianna, on June 29, 2019 at 9:23 PM Posted in California Planning 0 8
Hello California brides or brides to be!
I live in Silicon Valley and I'm curious what the average price for photographers are?
I have a family friend who is willing to take my photos.

6 hours - $21508 hours - $2450
Above prices include engagement session on her property. Since she has already done my engagement photos, she said the session can be used before or after the wedding.
I'll receive all edited images on a thumb drive with complete copyrights. She gives around 100 pictures per hour, so for 6 hours I'll be getting around 600 edited photos on the thumb drive. She doesn't charge extra for any photos.
What are your thoughts? I want to make sure I'm not over paying. On my profile, under "photos" I posted my engagement photos she took.
Thanks!! ❤

For some reason the prices got messed up in the post. It's 6 hours for $2150 and 8 hours for $2450

Hi there! I'm getting married in Napa and my photographer is $2750 for 6 hours. Definitely higher than the national average but I think our area is just expensive in general, so you got a good price!

Hey Brianna, I looked in the WeddingWire cost guide for advice on how much photography usually costs in Northern CA. It looks like the average cost in the San Fran area is $2200, so your quote looks pretty good! If you visit the cost guide page it'll give more information on different things that factor into that price.

We just booked Adam J Clark! He has 5 stars everywhere and has been a photographer for 30+ years! He is about $2500 or less! Includes free engagement session: ) all the other photographer we researched were over $5000!! It was insane

I think that's pretty typical pricing and probably on the lower side! We were able to book our photographer for $2000 for 8 hours (with the option to add a second shooter for just $500 extra), but she was newer when we booked her and I think her prices have risen in just the past few months so $2500/8 hours is a lot more standard. I've seen a lot of $3k+ quotes for the area as well, unfortunately.

That seems fairly average! The photographers we considered were within the $2500 - $4000 range for what we were looking for (8+ hours)

Not in your area but I think that is pretty average for most areas. When I researched photographers in TN where we are getting married they all wanted 3,000-4,000 for all day packages. I booked my photographer for $1200 (she was newer but after looking at her portfolio I loved it and she does an amazing job from what I can see). 600 photos is a lot! I believe we get 500+ images and thats all day coverage. We actually get pretty much all the pictures taken but we only get so many that are edited.
