average price for a hair/make-up person

Patricia , on January 10, 2014 at 8:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Ok i'm needing a cosmetologist to come to my venue which is approx 15 minutes outside of town. I need myself (bride) and my daughter's (BM) hair and make-up done. No cut, color or anything like that just styled. What would be an average price to pay for this service?

My hair and make-up trial was $90. For the day of - my hair and make-up is $165.

    MOH hair/make-up - $150

    Flower Girl - $30

These were just my prices - every place varies. She also travels to me so that cost is added.

That's sounds decent! I can handle that...but I seen some girls post that they were being charged between $500 and $1000 and I will do my own hair and make-up before i pay that kind of money.

My prices are similar to Mrs. D... it'll be $80 for my hair and makeup trial, and $150 the day of the wedding. It's $60 for makeup and $60 for hair for my bridesmaids. There will be two people who will travel to us, and they're still slightly cheaper than most salons in the area.

For me it's 215. For each bridesmaid it's 130. I am paying for all of them so my grand total is closer to 800.

Price for makeup will have multiple factors. One location (New York City is more expensive then Louisville Kentucky etc), two experience of the artist, three services you want provided (on site vs. in salon). There are a lot of hobbyists out there who are not professional makeup artists. They will low ball the price, which initially sounds appealing. The problem is these people are not versed as professionals, rarely carry professional products and don't know proper sanitation techniques.

You can get eye infections/herpes from someone who does not use proper sanitation techniques.

I charge $230 for wedding day makeup and trial in Houston. I have invested thousands of dollars into a professional kit of makeup that can accommodate anyones skin type. I also do makeup education several times a year. All of those things factor into the cost of makeup for me.

Along with what briggitte said, I seriously looked high and low for a make up artist I loved. Hair was easy to find but finding hair paired with a make up artist I liked was hard. Almost everyone I found for their wedding portfolio had a super natural look with nude colors which is not the look I wanted. To me, be able to have someone I know is competent to do it and hve been in the business for a while was worth it.

They know how to do the best work for photos. They know different techniques. In my opinion, having someone who is skilled and makes you feel like you don't have to worry about anything is completely worth it.

Im getting married in San Francisco, I've been quote $350 which includes trail: make up and hair and day of make up and hair with lashes.

MOH and others she will charge $150. I think its a reasonable price.

My hair is $30 trial and day of and make up is $25 for trial and day of. I can also get permanent lash extensions for $75, but I'm still on the fence for that. I've looked at the places pictures and they all look great... smaller town though so cheaper prices Smiley smile

Just like the cost of florists, prices for a HMUA vary greatly. Contact several different ones in your area of the same caliber to get an idea.

Melissa, that's a really reasonable price! I haven't found one at that price yet and I'm in SF too. Do you mind passing on the info? So far I've seen quotes for around $500 and up for hair, make up, and trial, sigh.

I am in Folsom Ca. We charge $450 for the bride and $250 for brides maids and mother of the bride or mother in law to be. We travel all over Northern California and we are usually booked every weekend. Our portfolio speaks for it's self. We recently did a wedding show where we were helping with the models. There was also another group doing hair and make up. When it was all said and done the promoters asked my team to fix the other teams make up. You need to know that the people who are doing the work know what they are doing. Also that they are not up charging for such things as lashes, and back acne cover up, chest and neck cover up, ect.... there are many hidden cost sometimes. Ask for references and look at all the different pictures that they have. Price should not be the issue because at the end of the day all you have is the pictures and if you do not like the way you look then you will not like the pictures.
