Average price for a DJ with lighting??

Anonymous, on October 28, 2011 at 2:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hi!

I met with one DJ so far, we really like him, has amazing reviews on every site I have checked, owns his own company, owns his own equipment, he would be the one performing, has insurance 20 years experience

cost is 1,200 for 4 hours

then with light fixtures for around the dance floor is another 500.

1. we are in the NJ/NY area - is that too much for a DJ?

2. Do you really need that lighting around the dance floor? seriously is it needed?

help is that too much????

That is cheap for a dj in this area with all those qualifications.

If you want to privately email me the name, I can tell you if I've worked with them.

That is an amazing deal - if you like him and feel comfortable with it - i would book him.

I paid $1780 for DJ and Lighting in the HOuston area. That included uplights all around the venue (something like 25 lights), 2 spotlights, and DJ for 6hrs.

I am in Colorado. My DJ is $1,400 for as long as we need him. He owns his own company and equipment. He will also be the one providing the service. He will have lights for this price as well. Normally, the price is $1,200 without the lights. My wedding is on a Sunday. I think he had said that the same package would be $1,700 on a Saturday. Hopefully this helps.

My sorta bottom line when I'm buying anything big (and just about everything for a wedding is bid, lol) is how much is the difference between what I really want and 'plan B"....... so don't look at it as 1200.00; look at it as what amount of money is this going to be OVER the less desirable alternative.
