I generally see $2k-$3k for lower cost of living areas and $4k-$6k for higher cost of living areas.

I would agree with Kelly. In large cities packages for mid-range photographers often start at $4000. It will also depend on many other factors--how many hours of coverage, second shooter or not, how many photos included in the package, if you're getting the album through the photographer, etc. I paid $5000 and that included 10 hours of coverage, 1000 photos, a second shooter for the full 10 hours, engagement photo session with one outfit change, and the album.

It all depends on what you are looking for. Prices also very on the area that you live in and the photographer's experience. We had two photographers for ten hours for $2,300. Our package included an engagement session as well. We received almost 1,000 edited photos with access to an online gallery of all of our photos, all of our images were also included on a customized USB drive, 30 photos that were delivered in a customized wooden keepsake box. Our photographer also had a promotion going on right after our wedding where she was printing 5 additional photos for free so we ended up 35 printed photos instead of 30. She had only been a professional photographer for about 2 years so her pricing was actually very low compared to other photographers in the area. We went with her middle package. And even though we got married in 2019, we got her 2018 pricing because we booked her services before the end of 2018. Her pricing goes up each year. A lot of other photographers were about $4,000-5,000 for their basic packages, but I loved our photographer. I found her through a friend who got married right before we got engaged. She was their wedding photographer and I saw the photos my friend posted of wedding and I loved them.

Mine will be $2000 for 8 hours/2 shooters (it's their middle package) in Orlando, FL. It's normally $2400 but they happened to have a 20% off sale when I was booking. The other one my venue recommended was closer to $3000 for a similar package. It does seem like a lot, but when you factor in the labor for 2 people, photo editing time, etc it seems more fair

I’ve seen anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000. We’re paying $3,200 for ours. She’s based out of California but we’re having our wedding near Jackson Hole, WY. We have 8 hours with two photographers. It all depends on your location and how long you book them for. In my opinion, if you’re going to splurge on anything, splurge on the photographer. For me the venue and photographer were the places I was okay with spending more money while saving in other areas such as my dress, decorations, and flowers.

I’m in NJ, most photographers we found were like around $5k! But ours was $2k, they did a fantastic job, couldn’t have asked for more. Even though this area most things are super expensive there’s some less expensive ones that are great, you just have to keep digging!

I found someone who doesn’t do it full time, she was 1150 for 6 hours. Now my friend is a photographer she does it for a living( I’m not using her because she likes to be a guest at her friends wedding) now her packages are from 5-7k. And I’m in NC I’m sure it more in NY.

For the style of photography I was looking for, all the quotes I’ve gotten were at least 3k. Luckily o found someone who has the style we love and charges less. It’s about $2.5k for 10 hours coverage, 2 shooters, and an engagement session which is a great deal in the Chicago suburbs imo

We had some contacts, and got a steal of a deal for rehearsal and about 8 hours on the wedding day for $4k in NYC.

So, yeah, unfortunately, for those of us in high cost of living areas, a good photographer is pricey. However, I've never seen someone regret splurging on a photographer they loved.

We spent approximately $1700 for 8 hours, which also included engagement photos. We got a deal because we got married on a Sunday in February in Vegas. February and Sunday brought the cost down some because it's a slow time.

Photos are an investment and they last longer than you will. They will tell your story for many many years to come. The photographer should also give you all the rights to your photos - electronic and print quality and will edit all your photos. It is quite pricey and I would be selective on who you choose. Look at their work and talk with them.
I know you didn't ask about this, but other ways to save money besides getting married during slower periods is by going with a photographer that has a small body of work that you like, but maybe not as established as other wedding photographers. Maybe even talk to the photographer and give them your budget and see if they would be willing to work with you.

We got married in July 2019. We spent $3,200 in Denver for 8 hours on our wedding day, a print release, 800+ edited photos, and 100+ edited photos from our engagement shoot.
