Average photographer/videographer pricing

Adrianna, on December 30, 2019 at 10:28 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8

Hi all,

So far wedding planning has been not as stressful as I had thought it would be. However, I have no idea what is a "good price" for a photographer/videographer combo is. Anyone have anymore insight into this? Any and all input is greatly appreciated!

A lot of this is going to depend on where you live and the amount of hours/services you get, but in my area each of these would cost a minimum of $2,000 if you’re hiring a professional.

Like PP mentioned, price varies greatly depending on package and location. We paid $2750 in the Cincinnati area for 10 hours of coverage. This same package is now $3500 with our photographer.

It also has a lot to do with experience. Typically, the photographers with less experience charge less than those with lots of experience. And, many times, you get what you pay for. That being said, we are paying $4000 for our package in Southern California with a husband/wife team who have been shooting weddings for years. The package includes 9 hours of coverage, an engagement session, two shooters, and a 10x10 album after the wedding day, along with a guaranteed 700+ edited photos. I see most photographers out here advertising packages around $2500 or so.

Currently we are looking in the Philadelphia area, what I have noticed is it comes down to experience. We found a wife who has made it her full time job, and her husband as a hobby is her second photographer. They charge $450 an hour, and if you book more than 6 hours you get a free engagement session. So they are roughly around $4,000 for hours plus, travel and food.

The second photographer we are looking at comes with an additional two assistants, offers in house photo editing, books, over 1,000 images, and a two hour engagement session. He is closer to $6,000. However, the quality and eye for great shots are so drastic the extra money is worth it to relive our wedding day.

I'm in the Chicagoland area and we're paying $3500 for 2 photographers for 8 hours, it also included an engagement session. We just booked our videographer for the entire day for $1500 and that was surprisingly on the lower end for our area. A lot of people around here wanted easily over $2000 for video

I would get a few quotes and see what the average is. For me I wanna say it was $2k-3k for a full day.

We paid $2000 for 6 hours of coverage for photography and right at $3000 for 6 hours of videography coverage in NC. Worth every penny!
