August Shower?

Jessie, on July 29, 2020 at 7:48 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 15
How do you feel about a shower being held in late August right now? No more than 30 people. In a very big room. Masks are required. I've been telling people I understand if they don't feel safe coming.

Our big wedding was rescheduled to May. Our small ceremony is still in September, just very close family. We wanted the chance to still celebrate something this year, and many guests have agreed. What do you all think? please don't be judgmental.

I’m having my bridal shower this weekend with 20-30 people attending. Our guests can wear masks if they choose and it’s a large room. I have told everyone I understand if they don’t feel safe coming as well. I’m just ready for a little bit of happiness during such a stressful time. I say go for it though! A nice touch my made of honor had added is giving everyone a small bottle of hand sanitizer as a favor.

We are hosting a shower August 23 with maybe almost 20 people coming.

I will be declining any and all party invitations for the foreseeable future, so I would not go. Not sure if this counts as judgmental or not, but I think everyone does need to use their own judgement for whether parties are worth risking their health.

I agree and feel the same way. Especially if you live in a hot spot like I do.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable with any sort of indoor gatherings anytime soon.

I should have chose better wording. This wasn't judgmental at all! I just know people get very heated over this. I appreciate your input.

I probably should have added where I'm from. I'm from New York State, and we are doing very well in my area. There were a couple people from hot spot states who wanted to come, but told them they couldn't anymore for the safety of others.

That's so smart. I'm in CA and things are going downhill out here. I wish our state would get it together.

I personally would not feel comfortable attending an indoor event with that many people for the near future.

I wouldn’t attend. I’m hosting a shower (along with the bride’s mother) in October. We’re planning on it being outside under a large tent, but even that makes me nervous.

I will not be going to any indoor gatherings that are not immediate family for the foreseeable future. I am high-risk and in the NYC area.

If it were outdoors, I might consider dropping by.

I have no problem with gatherings (I'm going to a graduation party this weekend) but I wouldn't attend a social event where I had to wear a mask. It just wouldn't be fun for me.

My shower is this weekend with 20-30 people. My hostess is doing all foods that are pre-portioned so it's more of a grab and go. Our guests are welcome to wear masks if they chose or even do more of a drive-by. I think the biggest thing is providing ample space so that people don't feel like they're on top of each other

That's great idea. Mine is at a shower, and I know the food was more of a buffet style before. I'll have to see what precautions they're taking.
Space is the most important to us too. The room we have booked fits 100 people, and we're only having 30. So I think that will be more than enough room.

I'm having my shower around the same time, but outside. Based on what you've said, especially nobody coming in from a hotspot, I would go
