August Brides

Stefanie, on June 17, 2020 at 11:50 PM Posted in California Planning 0 11
Hey everyone! Our wedding was sopposed to be 3/27/2020 and we postponed to 8/21/2020. We’re In cali but we are unsure if we will be re open by then. We have been together for almost 9 years and really want to start a family. I’m really struggling on what to do if we are not open or do not open for awhile. I’m not sure when to call it? I don’t want to postpone again and honestly just over the stress of it all. Everything is paid for and I’m worried we’re going to loose all our money Smiley sad what are other August brides doing?

They haven’t said anything yet. They have only said that we can postpone again if we’d like

We postponed our reception (we invited 160 people) to next year, but we're still getting married and having a small ceremony/reception with just our officiant and immediate families (15 people) this August.

Hi Stefanie what county are you in? I know some counties in Ca got the ok depending on the venue apparently if its outdoors you have a better shot? Id say stay hopefuly, every friday the state has released new openings, i keep saying this but even Disneyland is freakin opening in July 🙄so they cant keep us pending forever, im sure something will come up, mine is sept 12 Santa Barbara county, im still not budging, like you we have everything paid and im watching for new updates every friday but still no word, the cdc had released guidelines for events now waiting for the state to counties to catch up! I hope it works out for you i know its so stressful keeping the guests pending and of course yourselves, hang in there.

We are getting married August 14th near Yosemite. We meet with our venue this weekend/ wedding coordinator to go over final details. We are flying into California as we live out of state. Thankfully we have not had to postpone our wedding as of now. It’s an outside venue/ reception and we aren’t expecting more than 55-65 guests. Hope your county is open before your date :-) we have been together 7 years, but aren’t quiet ready to start a family. I told my fiancé before he’s 40 we have 3 years till then haha. How exciting for you both though lots of things to look forward to! Stay positive!

We're using the same venue next year, but this year we're using my parents' yard. It's not an ideal situation, but we're making the most of it. We're still having catering (and now an ice cream truck!), flowers, photography, and we'll wear our planned outfits. This way we still get to be married and celebrate a little bit, but we won't lose all of the money that was put into the wedding we originally planned.

It really seems to depend on what county you are in. I personally am in a very small rural county so feel very confident my wedding will happen in September. Is your venue outdoors?

Hi Stefanie! I'd definitely talk to your venue about what would happen if you needed to postpone again just to have the full picture and easy your anxiety!

As others have said, things really depend on your specific county, guest list size, venue's restrictions, and how comfortable you feel with the local health situation and implementing social distancing practices!

Hi! I'm also getting married in Santa Barbara county! Our ceremony venue SBMNH is not allowing us to hold our ceremony there on August 16th due to the health order not allowing wedding celebrations. Smiley sad Our reception is in Ventura which just allowed ceremonies of up to 100 people, but no receptions. Hoping that could change by then, but not sure. I would assume you'd be good by September though! Best wishes!
