Attn: big hipped & pear shaped brides!!!

I am lost looking for a dress. I have big ole 72.5 inch hips on a pear shaped frame, so I don’t think I will be able to try on much (or anything?) in a shop without actual tears. What have been your experiences? What silhouettes do you like? HELP! 🫠

I own a bridal shop and we carry up to a size 32 in the store. There are several brands of gowns that cater to plus size brides. I would look for a store in your area that carries plus size gowns. I would recommend an a-line gown. They camouflage a lot.

There are bridal shops that cater exclusively to plus size brides.

I would do a little research before you start shopping to find a store that carries plus size gowns.

Good luck with your search. If you find the right store & the right consultant, it shouldn't bring you to tears and will be a good experience.

    A-line

I am also pear shaped. I was drawn to many a sheath and a couple mermaids, but when I look back at photos, they were not flattering.

I guess I’m just afraid that I’m too plus size in my hips for plus size dresses. 🫠 72.5 inches seems like custom-only territory based on the size charts I’ve seen online.

I wondered about mermaids and ball gowns! I have kind of a rounder tummy, so I wasn’t sure if that would work though.

An aline skirt will fine in the plus size for you. You don't need to go custom. Two plus size gown companies are Alana Rose and Sydney's Closet.

My friend is pear shaped and got married a couple of weeks ago. She wore a fit and flare dress and looked absolutely breathtaking. Don’t shy away from form fitting (though if you do go this route, one with stretch to the material will be more comfortable).

Hello and Congratulations once you go into a bridal shop and they will ask you some questions about what you are looking for and she will pull some dress that you may like so that they can get you to your silhouette and find you beautiful dresses. Don't get discouraged or over think no matter size we will always find a dress for us

I started following some of my local bridal shops on Facebook and actually found my dress at a plus size bridal trunk show that they were offering for a weekend where they had a larger variety of Plus size options than they typically would in store. If you can find something similar I would highly recommend it was a great experience. Congratulations I am sure you will look beautiful 💕

I would try looking at photos of brides with the body shape similar to yours and figure out what appeals to you most. I'm sure you'll find something amazing!

I love it. My measurements are 47-37-47.5 so getting something custom was a must!
