We are not having a wedding website so in our invitation suite we will include a 'details' card which will note 'Black tie attire' under a 'dress code' section.

If you have a website, I understand it is best to note the dress code on there. Otherwise, on the invitation should be fine.

No. Unless the venue requires tuxes and gowns for entry akin to the Oscars, dress code does not go on invites. Most adults dress themselves in Sunday Best attire (semi formal/cocktail) like you would wear to Sunday religious services by default. If anyone has a concern, they will call you or your parents and discuss this by word of mouth. Or you can list it on your website.

I am not putting this info on my invitations. Maybe on the website but definitely not the paper invitations.

Typically you do not list attire requirements on invitations. If you plan to host a black tie event, it is proper to list this on a ‘details’ card. The same applies for any sort of specialized attire that may need to be conveyed (ie, a themed wedding, hiking boots for adventure weddings held on a mountain, etc.). If you are not hosting a black tie affair, and don’t have any sort of “out-of-the-norm” requirements, there is no need to list attire. Guests know what is proper for a wedding. If you still really want to give suggested attire, list it on your wedding website.

I added a quick blurb on the details card. PP mentioned adults *should* know how to dress, but the reality is they do not. There are several people that would have attended our wedding in jeans and a t-shirt as there have been no semi-formal/cocktail attire weddings in either family.
I didn’t straight up say no jeans. Since we had the ceremony at my church I worded in such a way that attire needed to appropriate for a place of worship (which is funny b/c sometimes I wear jeans to church, lol). I think o put a little more detail on our website (dresses not being too short, excessive cleavage, jeans). I always appreciate knowing the dress code so I know how to dress. I never want to be over or under dressed.

We put cocktail attire is requested at the bottom of our invitations. We also put on wedding website that while we want everyone to be comfortable to please not wear jeans, sneakers, or shorts.

Add it to a details card or on the wedding website, not to the invite itself. We will be putting if both places as if we don’t, I know many people will show up to our wedding in jeans lol

Yes we are having a causal laid back wedding in the backyard. So we want to make sure people didn't accidentally get all dressed up. We put dress causal and wear appropriate shoes.

I would put it on a details card, not the invitation. And I’d say something like “formal attire requested” to seem less harsh, too.

We didn't include it on the invitation, but it's listed on the RSVP page of our wedding website! We chose to go with "Sunday Best" since we're getting married after church on a Sunday.

Completely agree. Some adults will wear whatever they please.

If it's anything other than cocktail attire, I would expect to see the attire on the invitation/details card. Since our wedding is cocktail attire, I just put it on our website, but for the rehearsal dinner I made sure to note no jeans, tshirts, shorts, etc, since I want it to be a "nice" event and some people would definitely show up wearing something more casual than I'd like.
