at what age does kids not count?

Jennifer, on April 28, 2013 at 5:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

At what age does a kid count on RSVPs? I know my 2 month old niece won't count, but a 3 year old will right? I guess if they need their own chair, they count?

on my rsvps it says we have reserved ____ seat in your honor and i dont want to seem like i didnt invite their kid...but some will have kids that will only be 1 month old or 6 or 7 months old..not sure how to handle this..help please

If they need a seat they are a guest so yes 3 years old would need a seat. I agree with your way of thinking. Could you personally tell those people this yourself or include a note to say the child is still invited?

This is why we didn't do the "seats" thing. We just addressed it to the family so they knew the children were invited too.

Well I addressed the envelope to the family but I did the seat thing on RSVP cards because some people will want to bring random friends or family that aren't invited.

And yes I could tell them. I'm sure that they will know their kids are invited. so maybe that's what I will do is just text them and tell them their kids are invited.

I think it depends on the venue. 3 and younger dont count at my venue.

Haha @Lisa that just means you have classier friends and family than FH!!! (but that isn't hard to do!) I guess I need to ask my caterer what their age limit is. Even the 3 yr old won't eat a full serving but his daddy probably will eat it! lol.

I don't think it is about the food, but more about the space. We have a # of high chair age nieces and nephews. We are renting high chairs for them. The high chair takes up the same space as a chair so they have to at least get counted as a person at the table or you end up without enough seating.

I am thinking like Mrs C... even if they do not use a high chair, I would guess their parents would have a car seat or such for them to sit in as they would not be held all night.... so count as a seat.

As for the food, our venue has a cut of of either 8 -9 for kids portions for cost purposes.

I'm thinking both chairs and food. I need to ask my caterer about the food. but the chair thing is a good point. We hadn't even thought about high chairs..most of the kids will sit in their own chair. but there is a couple of infants and a couple of 2 year olds. hmmm now you have me thinking. guess i will just count all kids on the rsvps for chair sake and then figure out the food thing next. Even when I get the rsvps I will know if their kid reaches the caterer's age or not.

Thanks so much for making me think!

It depends on your venue, at my venue all guests get a chair, but guests

4-10: Are Half Price/NOT factored in Bar Fee

11-20: Are Full Price but NOT factored in Bar Fee

5 and under is free for us, 6-12 is a reduced price, and 13+ is full price (although maybe 13-20 isn't factored into bar price.. I can't remember).
