Assigned Guest Tables vs Open Seating

So my FH has a family with multiple parties involved due to divorces and I'm just wondering if I should do assigned tables due to the family conflicts or if I should just allow open seating and let them sort themselves out? We are having a very casual laid back wedding in an old barn if that helps...
