Assign Tables annoying

Chelsea, on June 28, 2021 at 11:11 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Over it.. When we got engaged I said if were having a big wedding people sit where they want to because IDC!

I am 11 days out and im over it! Because of covid I have to do it to keep people who know each other together. FINE I got out of assign seating but I still have to do tables.

I sent the hall final floor plan Friday of how many at each table since families are all different sizes so ranging from 6 to 10 tops!

I had a family 4 back out and now a couple. LIKE im literally paying the bar and food this week! Im waiting on them for the number.

I need to send the assign tables list over to the print shop and like how the @#% can I keep up of whose dropping! like over it. His dad wants to add another couple to replace the couple he lost LIKE OKAY NEED THE NAMES NOW!

I did assigned seating at my reception and we had several people back out after we had already printed our seating chart. and then we had a few no-shows on our wedding day so unfortunately there ended up being a couple tables with only a few people at them, but at that point there was obviously nothing we could do. it's not the end of the world if someone's name is on your seating chart who doesn't end up being there! (at least the others at that table knew there was supposed to be someone else sitting there and that you didn't intentionally stick them all by themselves...)

That does sound frustrating! What you are describing is exactly why couples choose escort cards instead of charts because last minute changes are easier without expensive reprinting. Take a deep breath.

I know exactly how you feel. Seating charts are the devil. I think that was the hardest part of planning for me.

Breathe. We did a seating chart and I had it printed the day before (talk about cutting it to the wire). Thankfully, we did have space at tables and I had our venue set the tables with more people than we had. People dropped out and people were added (thank you to my now husband); I tried to keep up with it as best as I could, but at that point I really didn’t care anymore. I told him to figure it out on his own. People were seated, those that were added got in at tables where they could fit in. I told him to stop adding people, my chart needed to be printed. In the end, it worked out and I never heard of anything not working out or people not having a seat. It will be fine but I do understand your frustration and you’re at the end of the wire! Everything little thing is starting to frustrate you and you’re trying to remain calm and cross things off your list. Remember to breathe and everything will work out for sure! I’m positive that it will!

I would just go with escort cards, that way they can be done the day before the wedding if needed.

You don't need to fill every seat at every table. Having a few open seats at a few tables is better than creating weird combinations just to fill every seat IMO. If necessary, have more tables, some with open seats, rather than trying to have the math be perfect.

We had a lot of adjustments in the final week, including rearranging the actual number and size of our tables entirely. We finalized table layout the day before/day of the wedding. But in the end it worked out really well!
