Asking your bridesmaids - Icing!!

Casey, on May 5, 2020 at 1:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

I'm thinking about icing my bridesmaids when I ask them, any ideas on a cute poem or sentence to ask them while poking fun at the icing? *For those who don't know, icing is hiding a smirnoff ice for someone to find and once found they have to get on one knee and chug it.

    You could say

    "Will you be my bridesmaid?

    Chug Yes or no"

I saw a video of a girl icing her friends while social distancing. She put a Smirnoff ice in front of their door and rang the doorbell and ran back to her car and played ice ice baby. I thought it was funny and cute!

I'm assuming you know whether all of your bridesmaids are the kind of people who would do or want this? I think it's pretty immature and not at all how I would want to be asked to be a part of the biggest day of someones lives.

Some suggested this earlier as a "fun" thing to do at a wedding reception to their bridal party. I didn't understand it then and still don't. What does it have to do with weddings? If you want to do this...prank (is it a prank, I don't even know), then go ahead, but adding a poem would only make it more confusing, I think.

I think sounds very odd, but I also don't drink nor have I ever heard of doing such a thing. Is this something the girls you are considering asking would be into? I know the people my side wouldn't have liked this. Two of them were under twenty-one, another doesn't really drink and the other two probably would have thought it was weird. I also agree with Autumn who said it sounds immature and not how I would think of asking someone to be in your wedding.

The last time I heard of anyone getting “iced” was in college more than a decade ago. Do people still do this? Personally, I wouldn’t think this was fun and I wouldn’t participate in the icing, but you know your friends better than anyone on this forum.

Hey, I've never heard of icing, but all of my bridesmaids live in different states than I do and when I sent them their proposal boxes, I included a shot of vodka and the card said, Take a shot and help me tie the knot. I hope this helps.

Clearly some people don't "get" this Smiley xd But I guess people just have different views on things, and that's ok LOL. Personalty I think its hilarious and would be a great Idea - I don't really have any funny sayings, but I do like what Molly suggested Smiley smile

p.s Don't let (quite frankly rude) opinions of others dampen your fire, I think its definitely a know your crowd type thing.

Not so much a poem, but maybe something along the lines of having them by your side would be the "icing" on the cake?

"Getting married is pretty sweet, but having you by my side on our big day would be the ICING on the cake."

Haha thank you! Was looking for advise but a lot of people decide to come in and bash it. It might be immature but it’s a running joke with my friends.
