Asking the parents of ring bearers/flower girls

Alana, on July 24, 2022 at 2:28 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
Hello everyone! So I need some advice/ opinions. I’m having 2 ring bearers and 2 flower girls, each kid will be under the age of 8 at the time of the wedding, so I know I’ll have to ask their parents first if it’s okay. Here’s where the advice and opinions come in because I have no idea what to say/ how to ask the parents 😭😂😂😭 I have real bad social anxiety and get nervous just talking to people. So what should I say??? TIA❤️

Who’s children are they? If it’s easier to text, I’d recommend sending a text. You could say, hey we’re interested in having your child participate in our wedding and you’d like to know if they can. Also if you’re planning on buying their outfits you can mention that as well.

Hi Alana! I would say “We would love Johnny and Susie to be a ring bearer/flower girl in our wedding and be honored if they would be in our wedding on (date) with your permission of course”. I think the parents would love that you want to include their children in such a special role. I like Imani’s suggestion that if you plan on paying for the children’s outfits to mention it. Good luck and I think it is a beautiful gesture to ask to include these children! ❤️❤️❤️

You ve gotten some great advice. Just call them up and say how excited you are for the wedding you love their child and if its ok with them you d love the child to be part of your special day and the role you'd like them to partake in. I was invited to be a flower girl when I was 2 in an uncles wedding and my parents said no, they said no for 2 reasons one they wanted to enjoy a kid free night and 2 it was an evening wedding and very formal they thought I was too young. If they say no don't take it personally. Good luck!

I simply texted the parents of my two flower girls and asked if they were ok with the girls being in the wedding! I plan on giving them a few little gifts as well.

The easiest way is to just ask.
