Asking the officiant?

m&j18, on November 6, 2017 at 7:15 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

We have had several family friends/ acquaintances offer to officiate our wedding (relax- we will pay and sign a contract ). While this might fall in the "friendor" catagory, we believe many couples use a pastor or minister who know them well, IMO this is similar. Have you seen an officiant "proposal" or letter....or do we simply call or visit to ask. He is not an officiant by trade, but he is licensed and has married several couples.

Proposal seems a bit much... unless of course you proposed to your caterer and florist? I know its a silly thought but you get my point!

@kristen I agree, I guess because he is a family friend and mentioned it at a mutual event I wasn't sure if we should do something a little more personal.

I will be asking a priest from my Catholic University to be my officiant. I am very close with him so I will most likely ask him while out to lunch or getting coffee.

@sally True, he is just a sweet sensitive man and I think he will be tickled pink to be asked. FH was so touched hearing him talk about the weddings he has officiated.
