Asking someone to walk me down the aisle

I would suggest telling him all of those things that you just mentioned in your post, how important he has been to you, and how much you appreciate how he stepped up to act as a father figure when you lost your own, and how much that meant to you, and how you would be honored if he would be the one to walk you down the aisle. Most likely, those are things he doesn’t hear often enough and it’d mean the world to him to hear it. It doesn’t have to be fancy or intricate, just heartfelt and sincere. Even if he tries to play it down I can almost guarantee he’ll be touched.

As PPs said, let him know how important he's been in your life! He'll be honored!

Asking him to walk you is a big statement of how much he has touched your life. If you want to make a bigger gesture, you can give him a card with photos of memories from times he has been your father-figure.

Maybe get him a pair of dress shoes and ask him to walk with you? Of course write a sweet note and tell him you would be honored if he would give you away!
