Asking my Bridesmaids.

loyalbadger, on January 27, 2015 at 12:49 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7

So I won't be sending them out for a while, but since I just want something to focus on, so I'm asking this now. I have decided to send Hogwarts Acceptance letters to the bridal party. I thought I could put in things like the date of the wedding (duh) but also some other important information, and was just wondering if anyone had anything they thought might be nice to put on it (such as expectations maybe? I don't know)

Oooh that sounds super cute, I'd love getting a letter from Hogwarts haha!

I wouldn't put expectations on there, that would come off a little strong I think. I'd focus more on how important they are to you as a friend, maybe how they've brought magic to your life, and more of why you want them standing by you on the big day.

Butter them up...then later you can go bridezilla and tell them all your expectations! Haha jk...you shouldn't really expect much more than them buying a dress and being there for your wedding.

Expectations was wrong, you're right, I'm not trying to go Bridezilla. I guess just any important things that are helpful for them to know before accepting, that type of thing. But I love the idea of putting why they are important to me Smiley smile

As a HUGE Harry Potter fan, that is so cute!! It wouldn't matter at that point, I would be just excited! Then I guess if they become bridesmaids from Azkaban, you can present them with a sock. I really hope they are awesome for you, but my nerdom has been set loose. Smiley winking

My nerdom is all over this planning, it's crazy. I just wish I was more in the year before period then I currently am.

That is an absolute awesome idea! How freaking cute! I think it would be cute to personalize each letter as to how you cherish their friendship, and why you want them as your bridesmaid.

For my ladies, I had a good portion planned before I asked them, so I created 5 cards: date, time, venue; the bridal party; the color scheme and theme of the wedding; suggested dresses/colors; and suggested shoes/colors. I figured the less they had the stress, the better Smiley smile.

My bridesmaids all live pretty far, so I included expectations. It went something like "It would mean the world to me to have you standing next to me on the day I get married. Please don't worry about being here for anything prior to that, just be available by text/email/videochat the way you have been in the months since I got engaged." So more relieving of expectations (no I don't care if she flys back for a bridal shower or bachelorette).

I saw this on Pinterest and fell in love with the idea. I hope to be getting mine made this weekend to send out! Love the Hogwarts letter, that is too cute/funny.
