Asking bridesmaids at different times?

#Holler, on June 3, 2015 at 8:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

Did y'all ask all of your bridesmaids around the same time? I'm anticipating some drama from friends who have openly assumed they're going to be in my wedding party who aren't, so I had planned to wait. I know our wedding is also far away, so I'm not in a rush to ask everyone, but I do want to ask my MOHs. None of my girls hang out together so they wouldn't hear about it unless someone posts to social media. Thoughts? What did you all do?

I would hold off, as you said you plan to. You have almost 18 months. That's a long time to deal with drama lol

I'd hold off as well. Also, ask them separately when you do ask them. All my BMs were out of state from me, so I just sent a letter to each one. I don't think I'd ever ask everyone together even if they were all in the same city.

I definitely am not planning on asking them at the same time- 4 of the 6 live 7+ hours away from me. I plan to send letters as well. I'll wait! It's tough with all of the excitement, but avoiding drama is more important to me.

I asked at different times. All within a week of each other, but we also are only having an 8month engagement.

We asked ours all within like a week. We would have done it faster, but we had to go to 4 differnt states, so we could only handle 1 trip a day. Not to be a downer, but the excitement will die down lol. Waiting it out will be worth it.

I think its ok to wait to later and ask at different times, esp if they arent friends. My FH asked all his GM at diff times and two of them are best friends the one who was asked later kept asking me (EVERYTIME i saw him) like "am I in the wedding?" or "did he pick all the guys?" or saying "you know we got back like 12 years, thats my boy, I better be in the wedding" actual quotes

Faran, FH had a few of his guys asking too. It's so awkward, especially at the time we were debating on not having at BP at all.

I asked mine at different times. Two of my friends, then one friend alone, then my two FSIL's together. You definitely have time, and since you said you don't want to deal with drama, I say wait!

@Faran, FH's guy friends are already asking him! I'm sure my best friend knows she'll be my MOH- I was the MOH in her wedding a week before I got engaged and we were talking about it then- but I'm comfortable pushing it off a bit before officially asking. It does get awkward having the "totally ask whoever you want, if you pick me, which you don't have to..." comments from the girls that I intend to ask.
